Paris hotel recommendations - family of 4

We’ll be in Paris for 5 nights with our daughters, ages 12 and 14, in October. Their first time in Paris - so, we’ll be doing the “typical” sites. Any recommendations on hotels we should stay in? Would prefer nice, but not budget breaking. Under $500 euros. Thanks!

You'll get more useful suggestions if you give us a nightly budget in euros.

We stayed at Hotel Le Relais Medici for 5 nights last May. We would stay there again. Great Left Bank location (6th Arr), just north of Jardin Luxembourg, excellent and helpful concierge, nice breakfast, lovely courtyard. Easy walk to Metro and restaurants. The hotel has only 17 rooms, giving it a more intimate feeling. Great description in the RS Guidebook (“ideal if you always wanted to live in a Monet painting”).

They have a junior suite with 2 bedrooms, which may fit the bill for your family of 4. It’s on the ground floor, off the lobby. Seems reasonably priced at $430/night for random Oct dates I plugged in to their booking site. We did not stay in the junior suite, but we met a mother/adult daughter team each morning in the breakfast room who stayed in the suite. They liked having a bit more room and the privacy of separate bedrooms. They also have a Deluxe family room for up to 4 people. Take a look: https://www.relaismedicis.com/en/

Another option is to find an apartment in your favorite neighborhood. Although central Paris accommodations can be a bit more expensive, it’s worth it to be closer to the sights that interest you.

You might want to check our the Hotel des Deux-Iles. It is as centrally located as can be on Ile St. Louis. There are a couple of other hotels on the same street, and one of them is a sister hotel. Cross the river one way and you will be in the Marais -- cross it the other way and you'll be in The Latin Quarter. Walk to the end of the island, cross the bridge, and you'll be at the back of Notre Dame which is still being reconstructed. The Metro is nearby and getting anywhere is not a problem. There are several restaurants on the island. If you stay there, we can steer you to a great little place for breakfast as hotel breakfasts seem to be over priced for what one gets. We can also tell you about several places for lunch and / or dinner on the island as well.

I have stayed at Hotel Excelsior Latin twice. They have family rooms and suites that sleep up to 5 people. Near the Sorbonne, Pantheon, and the Luxembourg gardens.

You might look at Hotel Residences des Artes. We stayed there with our two teens.

Small boutique hotel in a perfect location. Each floor only has two rooms. An “Apartment” is made up of two separate rooms. You can lock the door from the hallway that leads to these two room (need to ask for the key to do this). An apartment is:

A “regular” double room with a double bed (two twins pushed together), desk & chair, side chair, closet, bathroom with shower (no tub) with good size sink (plenty of space for toiletries) and mini fridge. Room is a really good size for Paris (170 sq ft).

A Jr. Suite made up of a sitting area with mini kitchen (two burner stove top, mini fridge, microwave). Huge bathroom with separate tub and shower, tons of vanity space. Sitting area has a sofa bed, desk & chair, tv, window that opens. The sleeping area is separated from the sitting area by a curtain. There is a huge king bed, desk & chair, 2 nightstands, tv, huge closet, and another window that opens. It is palatial in size by Paris standards (430 sq ft).

There is a restaurant downstairs, and breakfast is offered (additional fee) at their sister hotel across the street. There are tons of restaurants, cafes and shops nearby. The metro and RER are a block away.
