Paris hotel prices

Hello
I am looking at booking a hotel ( need a triple room for myself and 2 girls) next June in Paris. I have been looking at some of the recommendations in RS book and holy cow places are spendy! I think we would like to be in the Rue Cler area or the Latin Quarter. I was hoping to spend no more than $170 per night and many places he recommends are over $250. Does anyone have any places they like in a quieter, non night life neighborhood that are safe and affordable. Safety, cleanliness and friendly staff are my main priorities. Thanks in advance

Try Familia hotel in the Latin Quarter. It's not fancy but we like the location, the staff and the charming building

If you're looking for June 25 you're looking too early . The prices you're seeing are rack prices, only paid by those booking who worry about stuff.

I disagree with Simon June is high tourism season and those are prices are what they think they can get them and they probably will. I find that it’s cheaper to stay in the double digits so look out in the 13th of the 14th etc. You’ll get a lot more room for your money. You’ll be living among Parisian not other tourist and everything will be cheaper

For the Rue Cler area, the 15th is literally a few blocks away on the other side of the metro line so you’re still close to the area and you’ll find some really nice options there in your price range I think

I suggest going on Booking.com and doing some research there. You don’t have to book there, but I find it’s a good place to do research because it shows me the entire price for the entire stay so I don’t have to do math while I’m looking and it has reviews. If you get some options that work for you I’m sure people on here can probably help you weed through them.

I'd be so impressed to know that there is any place under $250 (let alone $170) in central Paris; so that is wonderful that you have been given some referrals. Have you considered apartments or airbnb. I do know if you search the forum, there have been suggestions for Paris apartments, which might suit your price range and give you a bit more space with 3 of you.

I can't imagine getting anything for $170 in Paris, not even 10 years ago.

And the triple room complicates things, you might need two adjoining.

Mercure placed’italia. in the 13th, very close to metro station. I have a friend who stayed there. It was very good. Looks like it’s in your budget. There’s also an ibis near there that might be a good option.

Our Paris hack is to get a Metro map, circle all of the furthest-out stations (ideally outside the city limits) and search for hotels and AirBnBs near those. With a Navigo Decouverte Pass, you won't feel like you are missing a thing.

What may be helpful is to look at the booking engines for hotel rates in November. They are available now and it will give you an idea about your budget and whether it is reasonable to think you can find something in a high season.

I looked at one of my regular hotels in the Rue Cler area for early November and the cheapest room was 158€ per night. For a single room. Non-Refundable rate. On a weekend and just a couple priced like that for the month.

I’ll also add that even in Yellowstone NP in a cabin with an ensuite bath I pay way more than $170/night.

I’d ask you to look at how you came up with that $170 figure and see if you can modify it a bit?

You may be looking too early but even so US$170 (157€) per night for a triple room is a very low (dare I say impossibly low) budget for a triple hotel room in June near Rue Cler or in the Latin Quarter. I think you need to cast a wider net and look for other areas. The heart wants what the heart wants but the budget is the budget. I second the suggestion of the Mercure Place d'Italie. It's clean and safe and affordable. You will have to use mass transit and the good news is that three metro lines are available at the Place d'Italie metro station. If you want to do the suggestion of looking for an area just outside of Paris near a metro station, there are decently priced hotels in Levallois-Perret near the last two stops on metro line 3,

our go to hotel for short stays in Paris for years is nearly triple now what we paid 10 years ago -- out of our range. When we needed a place for one night near Gare de Lyon last fall in October the best I could do was about 250 Euro for a budget hotel -- cheaper places were booked up.

We're in Paris this September (second week and last week). Both are tiny apartments (queen bed, kitchenette, large shower - not much more) in the "hyper-center". One is a stone's throw from the Louvre, the other on Isle St. Louis. Both are through Airbnb. The more expensive one, on Isle St. Louis, is $170 (about $200 with taxes and fees) per night. I'd expect prices to be significantly lower staying far from the center. Maybe you're trying to book too early? I booked mid-July for September.

The closer you are to the center (use Notre Dame as a reference), the happier you will be. The Eiffel Tower is a long way by foot to most of what you want to see. Same for Montmartre area. Rue Cler is a 3.6 km walk (shortest route, not along the Seine) to Notre Dame, further than I'd want. I stayed once in Montmartre, just to try something different, and felt isolated. Each day required a metro ride into town just to get started. Each evening you're a long way from a stroll on the Seine. Staying close allows you to walk out your door and be close to everything you visit Paris to see.
