Love Rue Cler in Paris and will be returning after a long absence, however our initial hotel choice, Hotel du Champ de Mars, is fully booked during our needed dates. Would appreciate a recommendation for a hotel on, or very near, Rue Cler.
I've stayed at the Hotel du Cadran, which is across the street from the Champ de Mars. The hotel is very nice and the breakfast is awesome. The Hotel de Londres Eiffel is where the Rick Steves groups stay frequently, we stayed there last September, just be sure to ask for a room away from the front because people hang out in the street and talk and smoke till 2-3:00 am and it makes it hard to sleep but if you have any other room in the place you are fine. There are a lot of great cafes in the Rue Cler area and the food is generally pretty good.
Cafe Constant is just around the corner from the Hotel de Londres Eiffel. It's one of my favorites!
Hotel Relais Bosquet. Love this hotel! If you "like" them on Facebook you get internet specials.
Another vote for Hotel Relaise Bosquet. Large rooms, great location.
Hi greg, the Hotel Empereur was recommended on this site. We’ve stayed there 3 times and would stay there again. It’s near Napoleon’s Tomb and a few blocks from Rue Cler.
Hotel De L'Empereur - I am back there in October , one of our favorite places - https://hotelempereurparis.com/
Appreciate the recommendations.
Can anyone comment on Grand Hotel Leveque? I like that Rue Cler is right out your door.
I've not stayed at Leveque but visited a friend who was. The hallways seemed dark and the rooms not as nice as Hotel CdM or l'Empereur. I did not see the breakfast room.
I also like Beaugency on Rue Duvivier. I stayed there the first time on a RS tour and have stayed there several times after. It's more of a business type hotel - not as much charm as CdM or l'Empereur but a nice breakfast. All the rooms I've had there have been fine and I like the people at the front desk.
I've also stayed at Hotel de la Motte-Picquet which was nice. My room was pretty small but was quiet as it faced onto an opening - hesitate to call it an airshaft as it was bigger than that and you could see the sky. My friend's room was bigger, a corner room but had a weird window in the bathroom, lol.
Londres Eiffel was probably my least favorite as I felt there was a lot of traffic noise from Rue Saint-Dominique, plus it's further away. Breakfast room gets crowded if there is a RS tour staying there.
gregory,
I've stayed at Grand Hotel Leveque a number of times, and would definitely stay there again. As you mentioned, it's in a great location, with ATM's right across from the hotel entrance, lots of cafes and other shops and easy access to the Metro. The rooms are not posh but I've always found them clean and functional. The last room I had there overlooked an interior courtyard so no view, but I wasn't concerned about that as I'm usually only in the room to sleep and shower. The photo of the bed with heart-shaped flowers in their gallery looks the same as the room I had (but of course no flowers in my case). Some of their rooms do overlook Rue Cler, but those might cost extra? As I recall, the breakfast was not included with the room, but I didn't mind paying for that as it was a good breakfast. The staff have always been great and very helpful.
If you want something a bit more "upscale" and have the budget for it, you could also consider the Hotel Duquesne Eiffel which is very close to Rue Cler. That is very comfortable and some rooms have a view of the Eiffel Tower. As I recall, their breakfast is spectacular.
There are a number of quiet rooms at Londres Eiffel but you have to ask not to face the street. Our room was very quiet and it had a really efficient and new air conditioner. The bathroom was fine but the room was very tiny. There are several stairways and ours would have been difficult to negotiate after a few drinks! The staff there is very kind and helpful and their house dog Toutou loved us.
