We are looking for an inexpensive hotel close to the Eiffel Tower and the Bus 42 route. We will be there for 2 nights in October.
Traveling with a large group including my elder father and granddaughter, so 5 adults and 1 child.
We would prefer an elevator and maybe a family room. We have looked at Aparthotel Adagio Paris Centre Tour Eiffel which looks close to the 42 route. I also liked Elysées Union, not sure how close this one is to get us to the 42 route.
Any ideas would help.
Thoughts?
If you are willing to be on the Right Bank, and it appears that you are, I just read a great review from a family of seven of Hotel Magenta 38 which happens to near route 42 over near Gare du Nord. Hotel Elysees Union is about a 15-20 minute walk from the closest stop on bus route 42. I have researched the Hotel Elysées Union's apartment but not stayed there. I did suggest it to another person who stayed there with her family and liked it, especially the kitchen.
Thank you. I wondered how far of a walk it would be from the Elysées Union. I will take a look at the Hotel Magenta 38 and see if it might be available.
Here's the route of Bus 42, so you can see where the stops are in both directions:

The Adagio is the only one that's close to a stop on the bus 42 line that apparently has the rooms you need.
If you click on the map on the Adagio website and use the "+" feature, you'll see little blue bus icons. Click on those and you'll find out where the bus 42 stops are.
There are other hotels in the vicinity, but you might have to ask for adjoining rooms or rooms on one floor.
The 38 Magenta does not have family rooms. Also, as to Elysées Union, my friend complained mildly about how small the communal space meaning the living room was. You probably know this already but the 42 bus route is one of the "sightseeing" public routes. See http://www.parisperfect.com/blog/2012/07/42-bus-best-sightseeing-paris/ for example. I just thought of a place that I have seen and heard good things about but never been in that is near Cadet Metro station and near the corner of rue la Fayette and thus is very close to the route for bus 42: http://www.cosys-residences.com/en/apartment.html. You can also cross check the map that Chexbres has provided with Google Maps and see if you see any hotels named along the route. Also you can look at the route and see what metro stations are on the route (for example, Cadet) and look for hotels near them. Here is a website that you can use to search for hotels near metro stations: http://www.subwayhotels.com/Paris/ Good luck with your search and happy travels.
Thanks for the ideas and the maps. The 42 map is great!
