I am a single traveler who will be traveling with 3 couples. We're planning 4 nights in Paris in June. The couples have reservations at the Hotel Splendide Royal in the 8th. The lowest rate per night there is 735 Euro! I'm looking for suggestions for a hotel in that same area for approx. 200-300 Euro per night. Thank you!
We're getting into the upper rarified air with prices like that. I don't have any firsthand experience booking Paris hotels in that price range but suggest you try both Trip Advisor and Booking.com to begin your search. I actually use Google Maps and there is a function that lets you select an area of the city and then seek hotels in that area, which are displayed by price. Good luck.
Agree with wbfey1, also try Hotels.com. €200-300 per night is high. €735 is really high. My favorite higher-end hotel in a posh area of Paris is €180-200 per night in high season, just to give you a reference. I’m familiar with many hotels in Paris but not in the 8th.
Hi Jennifer,
Do a google search for the Hotel Splendide Royal in Paris. Open the TripAdvisor listing for that hotel. You will find a map attached to the hotel website on TripAdvisor which shows you where the hotel is located. Click on the map and expand it and you will find a number of less expensive hotels in that vicinity. You can click on the map listing for each hotel and read the reviews and take a look at photos of the hotel. Although TripAdvisor is not always a good indicator of the quality of a hotel, you can read the reviews and judge for yourself if the reviewer is being unreasonable or not. I hope this helps.
How close do you want to be the Splendide Royal? I ask because that hotel is in a pricy area -- I mean it is literally around the corner from Hotel le Bristol. Try the Holiday Inn Paris Elysees (5-minute walk from Hotel Splendide Royal). It seems like a good place. I have not stayed there but I saw it when staying nearby. There is a hotel across the street from the Holiday Inn but it was not the great looking. If a 15 to 20--minute walk is more your speed, there are a bunch of good well-priced hotels in the area formed by Rue Tronchet, Rue de Seze, Rue de Caumartin and Rue Auber. My personal favorite in that area is Hotel Saint Petersbourg Opera on Rue Caumartin.
Both the L’Hôtel Elysées Mermoz and the Amastan are just around the corner, within your budget window, and would be very comfortable.
Thanks, everyone, for your helpful suggestions! JHK, I would like to be within a 10 minute walk of Hotel Splendide Royal.
You may like Le Pavillon des Lettres. It is the sister hotel of a hotel that I have stayed at in Le Marais. It is a gorgeous place. I do not know the price for a single room in June but if it is anything like its sister hotel, it might be above 300€ per night but nowhere near 735€.
Awwwww, i stayed there when Pavillon des Lettres was still the Elysée Hotel, on my wedding night!! it's been substantially fancied up since then!
We recently stayed at Hotel le 123 Elysees - an Astotel Hotel. According to google maps it's a 7 minute walk to the Splendide Royal. We really liked the hotel, and would definitely recommend it.
I appreciate all of the wonderful recommendations! I am reviewing the specific hotels that were suggested and expect to choose one of them. Thank you!
