Paris hotel May 21-23 under $500 per night (central location)

Hi All,

I'm going to be in Paris after a trip to Provence very briefly before my return flight -- 1.5 days. I've never been to Paris and know that I won't have time to see much. I'll save that for another time. I'll be arriving by TVG from Avignon and departing from CDG.

I'm looking for a comfortable (can be small) room in a very easy, pretty, walkable location. My goal is to do a little shopping, possibly a museum, take nice walks, and enjoy some good food. It's the end of my trip. I won't likely want anything complicated - hopefully easy to get to/from. I'd like to not spend more than $500 a night (hopefully closer to $300-400). I'd prefer AC, an elevator, friendly/helpful vibe, and a relatively quiet sleep. I don't speak French unfortunately. I know this is tough so close to the date. Any suggestions of specific hotels or very specific locations?

I've looked on booking but I wanted to ask people who've been and possibly stayed at some of these places. I was thinking of the 6th or 4th arr. but am flexible. Has anyone stayed at any of these places:
Le Temple de Jeanne
Hotel Jeanne d'arc
Relais Hôtel du Vieux Paris
Hotel Moliere
Hotel de Lille
Hotel Bastille Speria
Les Jardins du luxembourg
Hotel Grand Coeur Latin

Thank you so much!

I am currently staying at Hotel du Levant. Which I really like and recommend. It is a three star hotel.

I have reviewed it for forum and it is under Trip Reports.

We've stayed at Hotel Jeanne d'arc, Hotel Mistral, Hotel Londres (on RS tour), Apart'City Gare de Lyon, among others. We'd stay at each again.

I just recently stayed at the Left Bank Hotel in St Germain. Definitely in your price range and very walkable to most sites. Metro station just 1 block away. If you book direct, the very good breakfast is only 5 Euros. The staff is very kind and helpfu

The hotels HappyToBeHere and bostonphil recommended are perfect for what you’re looking for.

I made a mistake. My review for Hotel du Levant is under Hotel Reviews, not Trip Reports. A

Hi All,

Thanks for the wonderful suggestions (all would have worked wonderfully) BUT they don't have availability :(

I'm going to look again on booking now and see what is left and reach out again.

I stay at the Hotel de la Bretonnerie in the Marais when in Paris and it fits the bill for all your requirements. At the moment, the property also has availability on their website with the two nights averaging around $500.

Thanks for that suggestion! It looks like a nice place but is at the top of my budget for those dates. There is a very small room available in Marais for about $600 for my stay but it doesn't have a minibar. I was hoping to buy some refrigerated items to bring back with me. Is it common that hotels would (or would not) let you store a few refrigerated items if your room doesn't have a fridge? Otherwise, there are a few places in either Marais or the 6th or 5th arr. that are still available and might work.

The Bretonnerie does include breakfast and minibars in the rooms are an amenity. There also is a small grocery market next door to the hotel that you can buy food at.

When I have a room without any refrigerator and I need to keep some food cold, my trick is to buy ice in a plastic bag from a market and place it in the sink with the items that need to be kept cold. When I need to use the sink, I just temporarily place the ice and cold items in the tub/shower until I’m done with the sink.

Have fun in Paris!

Try Hotel Abbatial on Blvd. St Germaine in the 5th.
I’ve stayed there twice since last Fall.
Squeaky clean, staff speaks English and are all lovely, good breakfast, small but great rooms and has an elevator.
On a couple of bus routes, is near an RERB station: St Michel, and near a Metro station.
Easy 20 minute walk across the river to Notre Dame.
I will always return to this hotel.

And it has a fridge in each room.
They will empty it out so that you can put your own food in it.

Good idea about the ice packs, something to consider for sure. I'd rather just have a fridge or be able to put my stuff in one but that isn't always possible. Thinking mainly about things I want to bring back to the US (ie. butter).

Oh, another wonderful hotel, but they don't have availability for my dates :/

Right now I'm trying to stay under $1000 US for two nights with all taxes (and better if it's less). Here's what I've found with AC, central location, and elevator. I was trying to be in the Marais or 5th or 6th or nearby. Does anyone have thoughts about any of these hotels or specific locations??

Temple de Jeanne in Marais 4th arr. -- no fridge, tiny room but great value. (643)
Grand Hotel Malher in Marais 4th arr. with minibar. (820)
Charles V (rue st paul) in Marais with minibar (896)
Hotel Caron le Marais -- close to metro with minibar (947)

Hotel le relais des halles -- 1st arr. close to metro/train, minibar (886)

Relais hotel du Vieux Paris -- minibar in the 6th close to the Seine (940)
Hotel Parc St Severin -- 5th close to Seine (no fridge) (905)
Hotel Madeline de Senlis -- 5th -- close to train, no minibar (927)

I like the Hotel Signature in St Germain but it's slightly outside my budget.

With Friday. May 22 hotel rates spiking in Paris—you might check out the Grand Hotel du Loiret in the Marais. Great location, an elevator and rated 8.0. No AC but that won’t be a problem on May 21 and 22. It’s a basic hotel, but you’re going to be out & about exploring Paris and likely not spending much time in the room.
You need to reserve a cancellable room ASAP because your visit is next week! The Loiret runs about $600 for the two nights.

I stayed at Hotel Jeanne d'arc. I had a single room. It was fine, no complaints. It had a nice buffet breakfast. I don't remember if they had AC or not, but I didn't need it because I stayed in the cooler weather & opened my window in the afternoons for fresh air. The location was terrific. I was only a few blocks from the Seine. Rue de Rivoli is a block from the hotel and there are scads of restaurants and shops as well as a Metro stop there. I did walk to the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre and Montmartre from there but many people probably wouldn't. The Eiffel Tower was about 3 miles.

Thank you so much to everyone who helped me! With so little time and so many options, I was feeling overwhelmed. I booked the Temple de Jeanne -- which the hotel confirmed has a minibar in the room. Just letting people know in case it is useful information. Once I do my trip, I'll follow up.
