Paris- Hotel Marignan Champs-Elysees

I am curious what feedback people have about this hotel. We are booked for a stay next month but I am now wondering what experiences others have had.

It’s a luxury hotel so I’d assume it’s nice, but I wouldn’t choose to stay in that area (8th arrondissement). I prefer Ile St Louis (the little island next to Notre Dame) in the 4th arrondissement, the Marais in the 4th, the Latin Quarter in the 5th, and St Germain des Près in the 6th. These areas are much more charming and quintessentially Paris than the 8th.

You can tell what arrondissement a hotel / business is in by the last two digits of their postal code when you look at their address.

We did book a different hotel yesterday. Also, we have been having communication problems with the hotel itself. Billing when they shouldn't...not picking up their phone or responding, etc which is what triggered my initial post as to feedback in general. Didn't really think that the location itself could be a problem. Now to cancel the booking...

I was going to say that the Champs-Elysees area isn't my favorite because it's less historical and more congested than the Latin Quarter, Ile St Louis etc. When we were there (late spring of 2015) the Champs-Elysees seemed to be the popular area for ultra-wealthy folks from various countries. Or at least the very high-end luxury cars available for rent seemed aimed to attract that demographic. On previous trips to Paris I also remember it having a sort of fast-paced vibe that wasn't pedestrian friendly or (to my way of traveling) tourist friendly.

Contrary to what was stated above, Champs Elysees is not always the main protest area in Paris (I would be more concerned staying near République or Nation) - though they do happen - but the avenue is indeed very commercialized and the surrounding streets and avenues are dead outside of office hours. Not my fave!
