Paris: Hotel Le Clement or Hotel Familia?

Dear travel mavens -- thank you for your assistance! I will be visiting Paris solo in June for the second time, after 40 years. I am on a budget (US $150/night) -- and have considered dozens of hotels and locations, with help from these and other forums. Which of these two hotels would you suggest, for a woman seeking a room with natural light, a sense of security, and within walking distance of more than one metro station? A clean and quiet room are most important to me, but a view through the window and friendly staff would be nice, too. Thank you!

I stayed in the Hotel Le Clement in February 2018 with a female cousin. We are both 60+. It’s a very safe area, there were many places to go for breakfast, a market across the street. It is close to at least 3 metro stations and taxi stands were also close by. I love this area in the sixth. We walked nearly everywhere. We found the area clean, quiet, and the staff very friendly. There is an elevator, although it is very small, it will carry your luggage up for you.

Thank you, Debbie, for taking the time to reply! I'm a light sleeper, so the noise factor is an issue for me. The area sounds ideal!
Glad you had a wonderful stay.

Hi Missb - I've been to Paris solo in June numerous times (my birthday month!); you'll have a fabulous time.
I haven't stayed at the Clement or Familia, but have heard good things about them both. I prefer to stay at the Hotel Diana on rue St. Jacques (about 5 minutes or so from Hotel Familia). Last June I paid 98 euros for a single room, and they do have excellent A/C. If you decide to try it, book directly with the hotel >> but they usually don't open June reservations until February or so.
For your morning croissant, I recommend La Maison d”Isabelle, Place Mutualite (47 blvd. St. Germain), was voted best croissant of 2018. Open Tues – Sat, 6:30-8:30. I often was lucky enough to get warm croissants -- OMG so good.
There's also a small market in the square a couple of days/week.

I stayed at Hotel Familia in 2009 and have never stayed at Hotel Le Clement but just based upon location I would choose Hotel Le Clement. I have stayed near there several times and really like the area, the area near Hotel Familia isn't quite as convenient.

Hi, Shelly -- aha! I DID look at Hotel Diana, but they appeared to be completely sold out in June. If they don't accept reservations for that month until February, that would explain a lot! Will try to contact them, and thank you so much for the breakfast tip. Can hardly wait, as my birthday is also in June (13th)!

Thank you, Patricia. Online, it is difficult to tell which neighborhoods are more convenient. No doubt I am over-thinking this decision, but it will be a big chunk of my (unfortunately) limited budget.

I think Hotel Familia is very well, very centrally located - i’d say fairly equal to Hotel Diana and Hotel le Clement. Notre Dame is the center of Paris, the closer you are to ND and the river, the more central you are.

I recommend getting a good map of Paris, i like the Michelin laminated map.
If you pinpoint all three hotels, you’ll see they’re all conveniently located.

Many French hotels will show they’re completely booked when it’s too early.
I’d email them at the end of January, might help. If not, and you really want to stay there (it’s a good hotel) keep monitoring because Hotel Diana books up very fast as they’re very popular.

Thank you, Susan (and fellow Californian). I'm very tempted by Hotel Diana's description of a kettle and fridge in each room. Will wait for a response to my emailed inquiry re June; otherwise, monitor the website often.
