Paris hotel: Hotel La Familia or St Jacques?

Hi,

After what feels like an exhaustive search, I have narrowed down my top 2 choices to either La Familia, or Hotel St. Jacques (both in the Latin Quarter) and am seeking any feedback, positive or negative, before I commit and book one of them.

Thanks in advance.

I have stayed at La Familia three times. It isn't fancy, if they were to remodel, the prices would go up. It is a cute Parisian building with balconies or windows that open. I always get a streetside room because I love the views. Once they gave us a balcony which was fun. I've never had a problem with noise but you can bring ear plugs just in case. It's very clean, rooms are smallish, bathrooms big enough. They have an elevator and AC. The staff is wonderfully helpful. The location is great and its in a safe neighborhood. You can walk at night from the river or St. Germaine with no concern. It is close to a metro (which is one block uphill from the hotel, great exercise, haha) We only used that metro to and from the airport. They have strange pillows. If you are sleeping in a queen bed, the pillow is for two people and its long like a body pillow. I never purchase their breakfast. There is a bakery across the street and a couple others within a couple blocks. I've never stayed at or encountered St. Jacqhes.
