Paris hotel and restaurants -- 2nd arrondissement

I have a quick question for those familiar with hotels in a particular part of Paris. We have our usual favorites where we usually stay, but will be in town for a few days in the Spring for a concert at the Grand Rex and while I've been in that area several times, I've never stayed there. It's located about a 20 minute walk east of Opera Garnier.

Curious if anyone knew of any good hotels in that area. No particular criteria, though a bit more than 15 or 16 m2 in room size and a price between 150€ and 200€ a night would be fine. Less cost even better if it's a decent place.

Also -- any recommendations for restaurants in the area? We don't really like the overdone service that accompanies Michelin stars, but like good food, especially ethnic food we can't easily get out in the sticks without making it ourselves.

Thanks!

Sammy, just north of the 2nd is the Passage Brady in the 10th with Indian shops and restaurants.
This won’t help too much, but near the Pompidou you can find some delicious Lebanese that look like holes in the wall but have seating on the first floor.
Out of the area, but I assume you know that Belleville in the 20th became the new Asian food district about 20 years ago.
I can’t make any specific recommendations because it’s been too long since I lived there.

I have stayed at Hôtel Vivienne on Rue Vivienne in the 2nd arr. a couple of times and liked it a lot. If you get an upper floor room, you may get a view out over the rooftops of the setting sun on a small balcony (worth asking for IMHO). Down below, you are very near several of the covered passages, where you can shop or eat. It's also a great plan B if you get rainy days. I remember lots of places to eat in the Passages des Panoramas, including ethnic restaurants. If you take the stairs in Hôtel Vivienne rather than the elevator, you actually get a view out the back of the hotel of the glass covering for the passage from above.

Thanks PharmerPhil. They seem to have an odd website. Every day after the next two weeks seems to be booked, even into next year. In other words, it's unreliable.

Maybe I'll give them a call and see what's going on.
