Paris hotel and gym

We are going to Paris in late May and my wife needs a hotel with a gym that has an elliptical machine. I saw an ad for a reasonably priced hotel call Yooma Urban Lodge near the Eifel Tower. The listing says it has a "fitness center," but there is no information or photos available to verify what sort of equipment they have. Anyone have experience with this hotel and knows the answer-- or perhaps someone might know of a hotel in a similar area, adjacent to the museums that they can recommend? Thanks...

Dlg , your wife doesn't "need" an elliptical machine she wants one , and I am going to say but gyms in Paris hotels are not known for being decent , a few tread mills in some godforsaken room if you are lucky !

I would contact hotel directly and ask them exactly what is in their excisersie rooms .

Ps look anywhere in arroindissmsents 1-6 to be most central . Effie like tower is in 7 th so it's ok too, but I find it a bit of a dull residential area ( mostly, but not completely )

Just email the hotel and ask them if they have an elliptical machine.

Yooma is a brand new property. Last I read, it is supposed to have opened this month. It is in the 15th. It's not adjacent to any museum and not in a great area for transit connections.

These kind of requests always seem odd to me. If you want an exercise regime then why not just walk/run/jog/bike your way through Paris taking in all the sites as you go? Sounds better than being stuck in a hotel exercise room...to me anyway.

I agree Paris is the great walking city just walk she will get more than enough cardio. Try to take the stairs when you go visit Montmarte Sacre Coeur. Take the stairs in the metro

OK, a lot of us are addicted to our exercise routines, one certain machine, or cycling, Pilates and yoga classes but selecting a hotel based on one machine, which could be broken the day you check in, is unreliable. Look for a hotel with a close by gym you can use. If you've traveled at all you know that hotel equipment looks good in the photos but doesn't always work well.

Hi dlg, I think your best bet for finding a hotel with a fitness center/exercise room would be to look at "American-style" hotels (Hilton, Marriott, Best Western). Check their websites or e-mail them to find out the specifics of what they offer. Your wife will get more than her share of exercise just walking around Paris! Take the steps at the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame Cathedral, that should do it!

Interestingly, some are suggesting to dig's wife that she change her exercise routine. I don't like to do that and won't suggest that. Walking for exercise may not work for her for (a) calorie burning and (b) because ellipticals are much easier on joints than walking.

After years of trying, I have given up on finding good hotel gyms in Paris in any place that is not a super high-end place. I once stayed at a hotel in a Paris hotel because of its fitness center and got there and the whole thing was closed for renovations and they had not updated the website (of course). The best bet is to join a gym using a daily pass and that costs in the 20€ per day range.
