Paris - Hidden, Off- the-beaten-track Wine Bars/Restaurants

Hi,

After spending 6 days in Montepellier we'll be taking TGV to Paris for an additional 7 nights. We're two 50-something (straight) women looking for authentic places frequented by locals. We've both visited Paris on numerous occasions but are interested in finding new places that offer good food and wine at reasonable prices. We'll be staying in the 7th arrondissement in an apartment rental on Rue Malbar.

We've heard good things about the St Martin Canal area but no specifics as to where we might want to eat/drink or anything that we should check-out to enhance our cultural experience.

Sure would appreciate insights and or suggestions. Thanks again!

Cheers,

Barbara

Hi Barbara:
I did a lot of research on Tripadvisor and we just LOVED Sacree Fleur and L'Ange 20 the BEST. You would definitely have to make a reservation for both.
Enjoy,

Le Verre Volé is up by Canal St Martin. It's not off the beaten track in that it's very popular and known, but it's not on every tourist's destination list . . .I'm sure it's mentioned in both the Paris by Mouth and Not Drinking Poison listings.

I stumbled upon a newish wine bar the other day up in Belleville called La Cave de Belleville. They have a wine shop in the front and a big communal table in the back. They sell any of their bottles for drinking in the store for a €7 corkage fee, but more importantly they have a variety of (changing) wines by the glass available at any given time, plus snacks and eats to go with. This is definitely out of the way, but it looked super cool!
