Paris heat wave next week

The expected temperatures in Paris next week are incroyable - high of 99 on Wednesday and upper 90s most of the week. It has me rethinking many of our daily plans, since they primarily involved being outside, walking around (my favorite thing to do in Paris besides the Louvre). Any suggestions for activities to stay cool, in addition to swimming pools? We have two kids and while I would be happy museum-hopping the entire week, I don't think that will work for them.

Invalids Army Museum, my kids all enjoyed it( even 11 yr old girl!) and its never crowded and has decent ac( not true of Louvre or Orsay!) .

Fountains at Trocedero, technically you aren't supposed to play in them but during heat waves locals jump right in and of course view of ET from them is amazing!

Hopefully everyone here that's sleeping in Paris next week, has AC in their room.

Depending on how far you are willing to travel and cost, Parc Asterix to the north of Paris, just off of the A1 autoroute du Nord has a lot of water rides. We went there instead of Paris proper one year because of the heat, mid 30s, approaching 40 for a few days.

There were queues for the splash back areas for the water rides.

There is a bus that leaves for Parc Asterix from in front of Louvre! Go on official Parc Asterix website! If taking kids out of Paris for the day to do an amusement park, I would think Parc Asterix is a slightly more local experience then Disneyland!

Definately go to the Catacombs. They're underground and cool (both literally and figuratively). Great for kids (unless they're too young - a lot of bones and skulls!).

We were in Paris during the '03 heat wave (thousands died) and many heat waves since, and honestly nothing helped exceot sitting at an outdoor cafe drinking Perrier and lemonade. We went to the Army museum thinking museums are ac'd but it wasn't, and it was hotter inside than outside. Maybe they've put in ac since then. Per Pat's post sounds like they have. People were literally in the fountains outside the Louvre by the pyramid. Even the big department stores were hot. I also found some relief at the Luxembourg Gardens, sitting in the shade. They have a wonderful playground, ice cream, cafes and bathrooms.
Fyi, there's a wonderful old fashioned amusement park in the Bois de Boulogne called Jardin d'Acclimatation that my son really enjoyed.

Thank you all for these helpful tips! I'm hoping Invalides is now air conditioned, and will check out Parc Asterix.

I'm glad to read this, too, as I've been watching the temps rise! Thanks for the suggestions!

The Musee de l'Armée was NOT air-conditioned when we visited two weeks ago. Only the special Churchill DeGaulle exhibit was...so we spent a good amount of time there.

The heat didn't bother my sons much - and they spent a lot of happy time looking at the exhibits in the Army Museum while my daughter and I melted.

Marks and Spencer and Monoprix were good sources for cool drinks that fit in day bags. Our family enjoyed picking out new kinds of sodas, smoothies, fruit juices, and wines to enjoy. It was fun to shop in the French food stores - plus they were cool in temperature. Some days we just went in to have a cool break from the hot streets! Someone in our family could always find something interesting to buy for a snack or drink.
