Paris, Gare de Lyon to Bayeux, Normandy Trains

Hello: I would greatly welcome and appreciate any recommendation/feedback on Train travel - Paris to Bayeux.
I plan to travel May 2025, TGV Lyria from Zurich to Paris, Gare de Lyon; then travel to Bayeux, Normandy.

Reading Rome2Rio, there are a few options:
Gare de Lyon: It looks like there is a subway connection M 6m Direct to Saint-Lazare. Has anyone taken this
subway? Any recommendations?

Purchase tickets: Is it best to purchase day of trip at the station?

Thank you, with kind regards,

Judi

The direct metro between the Gare de Lyon and the Gare St Lazare is the 14, which is modern and automated. It will zip you across the city between the stations in very little time.

And as the No 14 is deep underground, it has access by escalators and elevators, which is nice with luggage.
And stop using Rome2Rio, it will lead you astray very frequently.

Rome to Rio is fiction. Avoid.
Look at the metro website ratp.fr

Thank you everyone, this is great information. I found Rome2Rio confusing and now not reliable.
I am so grateful to Rick Steve's forum and for all your wonderful help and feedback.

Thank you all so much.

I just found out that some trains from Paris to Normandy ( I am going to Vernon/Giverny) are going to have some extensive work done on several weekends between now and November. I don’t have the exact dates other than the weekend I needed ( April 5-6) and the options are limited..
If you have the exact dates then you can check the French train website SNCF Connect.
