Paris- Free First Sunday at Museums??

We want to go to the Picasso Museum and the Pompidou Center next Sunday, while we are visiting Paris. So do you just show up and wait in line to get in, with everyone, or is there a tip for getting in easily on this "Free Day"? Doesn't seem to make sense to buy a Museum Pass, if this is a free day. Should we show up right when it opens (Picasso Museum), or does anyone have any advice on this topic? I know that these two museums may be too much for one day, so we could do the Pompidou on Monday, if necessary, and just stroll the Marais neighborhood on Sunday afternoon. Any suggestions?

Free Sunday is the most expensive way to visit major museums; your time in a short trip is worth more than you save. I'd visit smaller museums or plan other things for the Sunday and pay for museum entry on Monday (check of course openings as about half the museums close on Mondays and the other half on Tuesdays)

The Picasso is crowded every day of the week, so just go when it opens. The lines get longer and longer as the free day goes on. The Pompidou is open later than most other places, so it’s a good place to go later in the day, about 4 or 5, even 6 pm. It’s so large that crowds are absorbed.
