Fat Tire does fun bike tours. Or walking tours: Paris Walks or Paris Greeters.

My favorite areas to stay are: Ile St Louis in the 4th arrondissement, the Marais in the 3rd and 4th arrondissement, the Latin Quarter in the 5th, or St Germain in the 6th.

Booking.com is a good source to find a hotel. Read the reviews.

What a lovely graduation gift and experience for all of you to remember. Does your granddaughter have any special interests, if so we can perhaps offer tailored suggestions.

I like David's itinerary but I'm not a 13 year old girl! What does she like? Shopping? New or "vintage"? Bric a brac?

I wouldn't take a tour. I recommend a Batobus day ticket and using that to get around one day. It's fun and a different perspective. Pick a nice day.

Stairs to level 2 of Eiffel Tower.

Give the graduate an illustrated Insight Guide and let her plan one full day at least -- then work around that. My daughter at this age had climbing the Notre Dame Tower as her number one thing.

and definitely a boat cruise one evening! It's a beautiful way to see the city and a nice rest from all the walking.

just a note that David's itinerary seems pretty museum-heavy to me. Be sure to think about pacing and timing and how much museum-ing any normal person can take.
