Paris, France-Italy experience for restaurants: Yelp, Trip Advisor, Eater, blogs or other

I am trying to research places to eat in Paris and was wondering what other travelers real world experience was with them in Europe?

I have been using Google Map, Yelp, Trip Advisor, Yelp and Eater along with some Blogs and have downloaded foodlover Paris but really haven't used that yet or decided if I should upgrade this app.

Just in Paris for a short stay of 7 nights and think back how difficult it was to choose good dining options.

I just want to chose simple, good restaurants not tourist traps or horrible places.

Staying the Marais and hope to enjoy a few pleasantly easy meals...

Thanks

You need to look at French sites and books. Reading what other tourists are reading will lead you to Touristy restaurants.

I use the Routard Book (https://www.routard.com/) and Internaute https://www.linternaute.com/restaurant/ website. Using them will get you you advice from French travellers who will have a better idea of autheticity and value for money - you would be amazed (or maybe not!) how often I see a "bargain" mentioned and can't believe how much has been paid

Same answer as to your same question in Italy earlier.

I would suggest "Chez Jenny" just down from Place de Republique...very satisfactory and enjoyable experience.

I don't use, much less rely, on Yelp, TA, Eater or any of those.

Greg,

Guidebooks are really, really good at this. Better than Yelp etc. in my opinion, and worth the fifteen or twenty bucks for the information.

Second the recommendation of the Routard guides - if you can read basic French they are a superb source of recommendations for restaurants in France, and they recommend places that are good value instead of haute cuisine.

I would search forums here and on Trip Advisor for other traveler recommendations for restaurants and then triangulate with reviews -- we have usually done pretty well by following the recommendations of regulars on these sites.
