I am in Paris. Are there any suggestions for dining near the Eiffel tower? Also open to Rue Cler
Well, there are many restaurants from the Eiffel Tower down Rue Sainte-Dominique and Rue de Grenelle. Any particular kind of food you are looking for?
La Terrasse du 7eme at the corner of Rue de la Motte-Picquet Avenue Bosquet is good and an excellent spot for people watching there on the corner.
I also enjoy Cafe Roussillon on the corner of Rue Cler and Rue de Grenelle.
For Italian I like Di Felice on Rue de Grenelle just east of Rue Cler.
It was years ago, and I can't say the food was "better" than a modest-priced neighborhood Bistro. But we had a meal on the roof of the Musee du Quai Branley, with a startlingly close view of the Eiffel Tower. Not saying you should stretch your budget for this, just offering one more idea.
We thoroughly enjoyed Le P'tit Troquet both times we visited there. Very small bistro; excellent food; warm and professional service. I would recommend making a reservation. The absolute worst experience we ever had in all of France was at Pottoka which is also in that area. Extremely rude greeting and horrid service; food was overpriced and mediocre at best. They behaved as if they were doing us a favor by permitting us in their establishment. It was the kind of place that gives Parisians a bad name.
