Looking for recommendation for a Paris dinner cruise in the end of September. Your suggestions appreciated. Thank you.
The only dinner cruise I recommend is Ducasse sur Seine.
There was a thread recently and Le Calife was recommended by many people. Found old threads in the Search function on this forum recommending Le Calife but not the one from 6 wks ago to link to here. I’ve never done a dinner cruise but based on all the positive feedback on Le Calife we might do it this September. Just Google Le Calife, read the website, and see what you think.
It’s less expensive than Ducasse, and reviews i read on Trip Advisor were all very good.
Tocard, you say Ducasse is the only one you recommend, so you did Le Calife and did not like it?
so you did Le Calife and did not like it?
Good point Susan. I have done the Ducasse cruise. It was fabulous. I have had no reason to try le Calife which has mixed reviews. Certainly le Calife has had better reviews than many of the others but the Ducasse experience was simply divine.
If only doing one, it should be Ducasse sur Seine.
I don’t think it’s fair to say only do Ducasse when you haven’t done Le Calife. Where are the mixed reviews of Le Calife? I’d be interested to read before reserving. I read Trip Advisor reviews and didn’t read a negative one. I read a lot but not all and may have missed a negative one.
One review i read of Ducasse pointed out it’s a very modern, sleek boat. Description and photos made me think of a cruise ship. That doesn’t appeal to me. Le Calife boat is very nice, 1930s style, which does appeal to me.
Indeed Susan, you should go on le Calife.
The Ducasse organization also operates the Jules Verne restaurant in the Eiffel Tower, similarly priced.
Aren’t we comparing apples and oranges?
Le Calif is €67-108, while Ducasse’ lowest menu is €150 for dinner and goes up to €500. Of course you know who gets the middle tables and who gets the window tables.
The Eiffel Tower operators did not renew with Ducasse to continue at Jules Verne. This is his last year there. However, in addition to his restaurants, still an impressive operation, he roasts and sells premium coffee with two shops in Paris as well as manufactures chocolate with numerous boutiques both in Paris and Tokyo.
The boat used by Ducasse sur Seine is relatively small and covered in almost all glass, there really is not a bad seat. The basic dinner menu is 150€ and as courses or wines are added, the price can reach 500€ but expensive wines can bump the bill in any restaurant.
It´s a magical experience that should be considered by anyone with the budget.
