Paris day trips by train

Thank you in advance for your help.

Two of us will be in Paris for a few days and looking to do a day trip to Reims and a day trip to Strasbourg, both by train.

Before booking accommodation I am wanting to know which train stations in Paris the fast trains depart to these destinations and which are the best agencies to book fares in advance.

We are going in early July.

Many thanks.

I would book directly using SNCF website - no need to use an agency.

I don't know which stations these trains depart from. It would be easy to find out by checking schedules on the SNCF website. Enter Paris and Strasbourg, Paris and Reims to check, and it will tell you the names of the stations.

Both these destinations are served from Gare de l'Est. The area south of Gare de l'Est towards Canal Saint Martin/République is a good place to stay, or further south along line 4 between the Grands Boulevards and Châtelet.

However, a day trip to Strasbourg is expensive (the train is €€€, check fares but by now I worry that you'll pay at least 250€ round trip for both of you) and a bit ambitious given how much there is to see in Strasbourg. Still, if you think this is your most likely chance of ever seeing Strasbourg, it is feasible.

Strasbourg is too far to be a sensible day trip. Reims is 45 minutes by TGV -- book Champagne cellar tour ahead.

There are literally dozens of great day trips within an hour of Paris, many of them on the local trains covered by the Navigo Decouverte pass. Fountainbleau, Crecy la Chapelle, Maintenon, Moret su Loing, Versailles etc.

Traveling by train in France is a real pleasure. It offers incredibly beautiful views.
I was on a trip to France three years ago, and I had the opportunity to travel through the French countryside by train, it was unforgettable

Chartres would be more suitable as a day trip than Strasbourg.

Doing day trips from Paris is best when it is a direct connection, say within a radius of not more than 2 hours.

The fast trains depart from all the stations, eg, Gare du Nord to Arras on the TGV, ca 40 mins, as do the regional trains, eg, Nord to Soissons on the regional train.
