Paris central hotel for 4 with AC

Hi all!

We have only 2 nights in Paris this August and I have decided to look for a central hotel with air conditioning. Hoping to find a budget place! Haha! We are 2 adults and 2 kids... would like to be somewhat central so we can walk, but metro ok too. We are only planning to see the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, maybe the Louvre (husband wants to, I do not since I was the one who sat in the Vatican museum snack bar with the kids last summer when they predictably weren't that into it). Walk along the river, wander around, that's about it for this trip.

Thinking we will have the best success with a chain like Novotel? I know it's not charming, but I really want AC in case it's unbearably hot!

Currently looking at Novotel Paris Les Halles... any thoughts?

We are coming into CDG and out of Nord to Amsterdam - but I guess it's easy enough on metro to get anywhere?

Thanks for any suggestions I may not run across in my search!! :)

the Novotel has the rare family room for 4 and AC so it seems like a good choice. As you know you need a quad room for 4 in Paris; they don't allow extra kids in double or triple rooms.

With the Louvre, you are adjacent to the Tuilleries, which is a wonderful park for kids -- there are pony rides, you can rent toy sailboats from a vendor and sail them on the fountain, there is a snack bar where you can buy lunch and eat it in the park (or pay more and sit down at their tables) The park itself is full of movable chairs, so it is easy for you to relax while they play or pull up chairs for a picnic. There is a playground and also pay trampolines and in August there will be a small carnival with rides near the Louvre side of the park. So while one parent is in the Louvre, the other can take the kids out when they tire of it and play in the park. And the parents can also switch off e.g. both go with the kids, one takes them out, and then after an hour or so, the other go back in while the first parent does kid duty. There are some pretty stunning sights in the Louvre for kids -- Egyptian mummies, the medieval base of the building, crown jewels, Winged Victory etc so have the kids look on line and choose some things they want to see and then one parent takes them out when they have had enough. It is an easy who to Gare du Nord from Les Halles -- just one stop on the RER.

You can look at the Best Western Left Bank Saint Germain; the deluxe rooms sleep four.

Kim, not sure how old your kids are .. but split up in Louvre.. hubby can go see " boring paintings" and you take them downstairs to see the "Medieval Louvre" the old partially excavated walls of the original moat walls.. Then maybe take them up to see Napoleons apartments.. this assumes your kids are at least 7 or 8.. too much younger then that.. well they are basically luggage in Louvre.. lol

Kids are free so even if you take them out to park (Tuilleries Gardens is right there and there is good free playground for the under 10 set there) after an hour and hubby joins you there an hour later you won't have wasted much on your admission.. its so cheap compared to many museums..

Timhotel Jardins des Plantes I think allows up to four in a room if two are young children. Good location too .
