Paris CDG to TGV: mechanics & bag limits

We'll be flying into Paris CDG and then taking the TGV to Uzès.

How do we actually get from the airport to the TGV?

And how many bags are we allowed to take onto the train?

Many thanks!

I assume you are taking the train from the CDG train station and not from central Paris? It's important to know the difference.

I assume you will take the train from the CDG station. In that case, it depends on which part of CDG you land in. You might be able to walk (long walk) to the CDG station just by following the signs in the airport. Or you might need to take the CDGVAL connection train within the airport.

You can take as much luggage on the train as you want, but there is no porter to help you. You can usually find luggage storage at the end of the cars or above your seat in luggage racks (for smaller bags).

According to the airport guide:
"The TGV-RER railway station Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 2 is underneath terminal 2, between terminals 2C/2E and 2D/2F"
To see maps of where it is exactly:

Do not be confused by the adjacent RER stop (that's the regional commuter train.)

Not all trains from CdG run or connect to everywhere in France. That's why you might have to go into Paris to take the appropriate SNCF train. You can work out a route at the home site of the train system: https://en.oui.sncf/en/

The SNCF site will ask you to specify what town in the Uzes area you want to reach. Google Maps may help.

We took the TGV to Nimes from CDG 2 weeks ago. It was easy. Arrived at terminal 2 and it was a short walk to the TGV station. Follow the signs. We rented a car In Nimes and drove to Uzès, you will love Uzès. We had 3 carry on bags for 2 people. We just got on the train. Didn’t notice anyone checking bags. Do you have your tickets?

TGV's low-cost brand called Ouigo (not to be confused with regular TGV a.k.a. "inOui") does have baggage limitations and other rules similar to budget airlines. You wouldn't book this type of ticket without seeing that brand name and restrictions mentioned, as long as you do read the details during the process. They're not yet as frequent or widespread as regular TGV service, but are expanding.

Thank you, Laura. Our tickets are in fact on Ouigo. And it doesn't look like our suitcases will fit. Do you know how strict they are?

Extra bags and oversized bags are 5€ per bag if you purchase the option when you purchased your tickets. They are 20€ each thereafter.
