Paris catacombs w/ kids

Hello
I will be with my wife and two kids, daughter 11 and son 20 months.

I have no doubt my daughter would love this but not sure it’s a good idea with the toddler.
Has anyone tried to take a toddler with you into the catacombs?
We could use a carrier if it helps.
Thank you.

We visited the catacombs when our daughter was 8. She loved it. But i don't think it suitable for 20 month old. Lots of steps going down and going back. Sometimes the ground is uneven and the passage is quite long.

Roditorn,
There is a long line to wait and enter about 130 steps down, 1 1/4 mile walk, and 83 steps back up. If you can handle your son in a carrier the whole time including down and up then go. Or perhaps the question is, does your son have the temperament to tolerate a carrier the whole time? It should be noted a stroller is out of the question here. It's not really ideal for a toddler, there's no where to get down even on the relatively flat 1 1/4 mile underground trek. Would you take him on a cave tour? Its about the same.

My daughter is 25 months and I really like things like this so I would tough it out and do it but, I wouldn't recommend it to just anyone. If you decide to do it just be clear about what you're getting into as there's really no going back once you begin the trek. Your 11 year old will love it! I went with my then 14 year old son in 2014 and he loved it.
I hate to suggest it but have you considered separating with one parent taking your daughter to the catacombs and another taking the toddler to the park?
I hope you have a great trip even if you decide not to visit the Catacombs this time. You can come back!

I would not think you could safely use a back carried on the stairs. Just not a good place for a toddler.

Ahh! Don’t take your toddler down there. Sorry, your question had me flashing back to the catacombs we visited outside of Rome last year. Family brought a two year old with a toy sword and he nearly ruined the tour for the group. He made so much noise (as toddlers naturally do, wasn’t his fault) and babbled the whole time. The guide sent the entire family out at the first available safe exit because he was so disruptive, much to the family’s displeasure but everyone else’s relief.

Not quite the same, obviously, as the Paris catacombs, but having been in them as well, I would really encourage you not to do this.

If it’s something you’d like to do with your daughter, might your wife be willing to wait? There is other stuff in that area to do/see that she could explore during the wait.
