I am hoping to buy tickets with an audioguide (do not really want to take a "tour") to see the Catacombs of Paris on September 11, 12, or 13, 2018. I have been trying for weeks and there don't seem to be any availabilities after September 9, 2018. Does anyone know if the Catacombs shut down in September? I thought perhaps they only open up periodically but that September 9 has been the last available date for weeks now.

They had been closed over the summer to do some renovations. Not sure what their reopening date is . . .

Thanks, StephB. There are tickets available currently up to September 9th so they must be open... I am just puzzled if they are closing after that date OR if tickets have simply not opened up for after that date. Most tickets for other popular tourist spots have had tickets available for a month (or more) for purchase.

I Facebook messaged the Catacombs site and they responded that they are closed September 10th through October 2nd. Too bad for me too.

Wow glad I saw this. We are arriving on the 9th so I will try to cram it in that day! That's unfortunate that it's closed for so long.

We visited the Catacombs in late August 2018. I would highly recommend getting tickets in advance. We did not (website to do so all in French and could not get it to translate) and spent TWO AND A HALF HOURS in line with our daughters. Crazy! When I told the person selling tickets, he responded that it wasn't bad, for often it can be FIVE hours and the line goes around the block. I did not think it was worth the wait (it was warm, on the edge of hot) but our daughter's felt it was worth while. People in line kept going places in the area (McDonalds!) to get food.
