I would like to purchase tickets for the Paris Catacombs online but the information is confusing. Going in early September. Is it possible to buy the Catacomb/Arch. Crypt combo ticket online or is that only on site? And if so, do I have to use the tickets the same day?

Recently they have been on strike. Not sure if that has been resolved or not. That might be your problem.
The catacombs are striking? Workers in the museums are striking?
The strike is over. We just came back from Paris. We originally had pre-purchased tickets, but they were canceled prior to us visiting due to the strike. We ended up just getting to the Catacomb entrance about 45/50 minutes early, waited until they opened, and then were inside within about 15 minutes of them opening. So if you don't get tickets in advance, just do this and save the stress. There is a McDonalds not too far away where you can go the washroom and get a snack to take to the line while you wait. We didn't do the crypt, just the catacombs themselves, so I can't give you any info on that specifically. I do recommend the audio guide, as it was very informative and interesting.
**Just a side note: there are quite a few stairs going down and you end up coming out at the gift shop when you are done. There are washrooms at the end for your convenience. Just an FYI.
Thank you. I did purchase tickets online with no problem. Just catacombs as it seems only way to get combined is on site. Had not heard anyone beyond the transportation workers were striking. Maybe all are part of same union. Glad to know they refunded your money.

I believe she is referring to the audio guide that you rent at the Catacombs. It is 5€Extra when buying the ticket. There is also one at this link tho I have not downloaded and listened to it as http://www.playandtour.com/audioguides/paris-en/les-catacombes-de-paris.
