Paris catacombs?

This sounds so interesting...I'm just seeing very expensive tours. Do any of you have any ideas or feedback about this please?

I walked through the catacombs many years ago, each of us held a candle and I remember the wax dripping on my hand. Plus of course the thousands of skulls of people who lived centuries ago, smiling at me (or so it seemed) from the walls. There must have been some electric lighting too, certainly there is now and I don't think candles are involved any more. It's a very interesting place, but a long walk down many stairs and through tunnels before returning to daylight some distance away. I understand that lines can be very long unless you're part of a tour.

For me, the catacombs could be part of a Paris visit of at least a week, definitely a second-tier priority. And having been there so long ago I don't need to return. But if you have time for the catacombs, and the energy for the walking and stairs, they're worth seeing. Return to the streets grateful to still be alive! Have a wonderful visit to Paris, wherever you go.

Without an expensive tour tim ed entry, arrive at least 44 miuntes before it opens.
