Paris Cafes in March

My husband and I are planning to go to Paris the last week of March. We've gone to Netherlands and Belgium during this same time of year and must of lucked out because we were able to sit outside at the various cafes every day both times.

Since Paris no longer allows heaters on their outdoor patios, will outdoor seating even be available at cafes during this time of year? One of our favorite parts of visitng Europe is sitting outside at a cafe and people watching. We are from Ohio so don't mind the cold and realize we will probably need to wear layers. I'm a teacher, so unfortunately I can't go in April or May and would like to avoid the busy (and hot) summer months. Thanks!

My second trip to Paris was in late February and we sat outside and had drinks several times for people watching. My fiance and I just went in December 2025 and also sat outside (it was his first time in Paris) so he could have the cafe culture/people watching experience. If you are dressed appropriately, you will be fine.

I went to college in Ohio, so the cold and gray skies don't bother me :)

I was in Paris the first week of March this year and definitely made great use of the cafe terraces. I was able to eat lunch outside every day with no jacket & then would enjoy apero outside too, but with my jacket on once the sun started setting. I did eat dinner indoors every night I think. The best of both worlds! I’m from New England, so even the cooler nights were a welcome relief from cold and snow at home…will never complain about having to wear a lightweight down jacket instead of a full parka :)
