Paris Bus tickets

Can you pay for bus tickets with cash in 2026? Where I'm staying does not have a train station nearby so I'd need to take a bus first. I would just order them on my phone but I hear you can only pay for person per device and I am traveling with elderly family who do not carry smartphones. Thank you.

You can purchase a Navigo Easy card (physical card) for each person, and then load it with as many rides as you want, at the machines in any Metro station. You need to purchase bus rides separately from Metro rides but the machines are easy to understand and doing so is fairly simple. The card itself costs €2. We liked using the cards because our phones were securely stowed away and one less thing to worry about as we navigated public transportation. There are some good YouTube videos you can watch; just be aware there were major changes in 2026 so only watch very recent ones.

Am I sure that riders can purchase tickets on the bus? Yes, because as the driver no longer sells paper tickets at 2.50€ (after 1 October), buses have been converted to accept credit cards:

Des tickets SMS sont vendus directement à bord des bus en Île-de-France, au tarif de 2,50 € soit en espèces auprès du conducteur, soit en carte bancaire aux bornes prévues à cet effet. Ces tickets sont sans correspondance possible.
