Paris-Brest

I will be staying near Luxembourg Gardens for three days in June and would really like to try a Paris-Brest pastry. Do you know of a cafe or restaurant that serves it? Thanks!

I have always picked one up at a patisserie so that is what I'd look for. Depending on exactly which side of the gardens you are staying on, some friends have recommended Bread & Roses which is at 62 rue Madame. They have takeaway but they also have a cafe area and it looks like Paris Brest is on their menu/carte. I've not eaten there but it would be a good starting point if your hotel is near it.

BTW, they are delicious. I'd recommend running a taste test and get one from several different patisseries in your neighborhood, hahaha. That is the only way to tell which is the best! I did that with citron tarts a few years ago and it was a terrific experiment. Surprisingly to me, the local patisserie was better than the larger, more well-known chain in my neighborhood.

Ha ha! With your title, you're going to generate quite a few clicks from people who think it's a question about how to get to Brest, like I did 😄!

I’m with Pam…try as many as you can and report back to us! They’re my favorite sweet treat in Paris. My favorite was from a place near the canal st Martin, enjoyed while sitting by the canal and people watching. I wish I could remember the name of the bakery!

The "Sortir à Paris" guide offers some great places to find the Paris-Brest of your dreams.

I suggest going to a pastry shop rather than a bakery. Making bread and pastries are two different arts.

Laurent Duchene, a "MOF" (Meilleur Ouvrier de France, the highest professional distinction, recognized by the blue, white, and red collar), offers Paris-Brest pastries in his shop in the 15th arrondissement at 238 Rue de la Convention.

Hi CA,
I came back from Tours last fall newly addicted to Paris Brest. Have had to groan and shake my head here at Toronto boulangeries who've never heard of it...
My fave was in Tours itself but in Paris near Pl. Monge, we also liked the version made by Carl Marletti.
Good luck.
