Paris at year end

Hello,
The only window my wife and I have to travel abroad for the next 18 months or so is 12/26-1/3. I know this is not ideal, but looks like our only option. Paris was our first thought for several reasons. We’ve both been to Paris before but it was 20+ years ago. We originally had a much longer trip planned to France, but it was scheduled for April 2020.

My main concern is that even Paris will be too sleepy with lots of sites closed for the week. My wife and I are both 39, so we’re not looking for a crazy club scene or to close down bars. However, we would be disappointed if most restaurant/cafes, museums and other sites are closed.

Given the short time frame, we plan on just sticking with one city.

Has anyone traveled to Paris the week after Christmas through New Years? Pros? Cons? If not Paris, anywhere else the forum might suggest?

Thanks,

Paris is NOT sleepy between Christmas and New Year's - it's very lively, and a nice tome to visit for all the winter advantages - concerts, exhibits, restaurants, etc.

Paris will be open and lively. Be sure you reserve your meals for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, as well as New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. These are special fixed price celebratory meals that need to be reserved in advance. Otherwise, some of the ethnic eateries will be open those days.
