Paris Arrival Ground transportation from CDG to Rueil Malmaison

Hi,
I am so sorry to ask the trivia today with Notre Dame burning, but we leave in 2 days to visit our daughter studying abroad in Paris and I don't have a plan what to do when we arrive. We arrive at CDG and need to get ourselves to a hotel near her homestay in Rueil Malmaison, a Paris suburb.

I know a taxi is 50 Euro to central Paris, but would the cost be similar to Rueil Malmaison? Would an uber work better?

What is the best way to transport ourselves to this suburban location?

RER requires a change from one line to another and we are carrying a large suitcase to bring her winter things home with us.

Thanks in advance,
BTW she had incredible photos and video of Notre Dame tonight with prayers and hymns being sung by the bystanders. They saw smoke from their classroom at the Sorbonne and went to watch from a Seine bridge. So very sad.

If it is near the Rueil Malmaison RER A station, the change at Les Halles is not that difficult, assuming this large suitcase has wheels. You take the elevator or escalator up to the mezzanine, then walk a few feet to the the elevator or escalator down to the other platform and wait for the RER A destination St German-en-Laye.

Since your destination is outside the city of Paris, taxis will run the meter. Paris airport website indicates 50 to 70 EUR for that neck of the woods.

Is that large suitcase mostly empty because it is for your daughter's winter clothes? The transfer from the RER B to the RER A is not exactly taxing. As Sam wrote, escalator up followed by an escalator down. That's it. The question is how far from the RER stop are your accommodations. I do not remember but I think there is an escalator at the station. You can check at https://www.ratp.fr/en/accessibility/network-accessibility. Even though the transfer is not difficult, I would take a taxi because I am a taxi person these days but, as stated, it will not be a fixed rate trip and my guess is that unless traffic is horrible, which it well could be depending on the time of day that you are traveling, the fare should be about ~60€.

Thank you for the help. Our hotel that night is right across from the Rueil-Malmaison train station. Yes the big suitcase has wheels and will be mostly empty when we arrive.

My daughter has told me she changes at Chatelet when she goes to the airport.

I think we will play it by ear tomorrow (Thursday). If we're not exhausted we might try the train. It's going to be a very long day.

She probably means Chatelet-Les Halles. That is really an amalgam of two stations, Chatelet and Les Halles. Les Halles is where the RER platforms are and Chatelet is where most of the Metro platforms are. In fact, the Metro No 4 line has 2 stations there, Les Halles and Chatelet. You will change from the B to the A at Les Halles. But it will be obvious when you get there.
