I will be going to Paris and Rome this summer and was wondering about the Paris pass and Rome pass. Is it worth it to get a 4 day pass in Paris and the 2 day pass in Rome? Somewhere I have read about the museum pass is better or vice versa not sure anymore. It is on sale at 20 percent off.
Don't know about the Rome Pass, but the Paris Pass is totally over priced. You're paying for glitzy advertising and profit for the owners. It includes a Museum Pass, so why not just buy it direct when you get off the plane and cut out the middle man and save money. The transport pass included is the Visite, which is already a bit overpriced when you buy it direct from the RATP, the Paris transit authority. Otherwise there are cheaper transit options, like 10-packs of tickets at a 25% discount, or day passes like a Mobilis.

Easy to mark down something 20% that you are already selling at a 50% margin.
The Paris Pass is a notorious rip off (and it is not a 'pass' if by pass you mean a single card that does stuff like let you. travel and go to museums); when we were in Rome we bought a pass that gave discounts for museums and allowed transport. I would not buy it again. It was fiddly to use at Museums and we didn't use transport enough for it to be cost effective.
Another vote with Sam and Janet.
The Paris Pass is ridiculously overpriced. It's much more economical to get the Paris Museum Pass and some carnets of transport tickets. The Museum Pass is really nice as there's nothing at all "fiddly" about it: it completely covers all the attractions it includes, and you can re-visit any of them as often as you wish during the life of the pass. That was REALLY nice as we did 3 visits to the Louvre (one long, two short) including a late-night opening. We were in Paris for a week and more than got the good out of our 6-day passes.
We decided not to do the Roma Pass as, same as Janet, we wouldn't have used the transport piece enough - Rome is a great city to walk - and it only covers 1 attraction 100% on a two-day pass. We may have been able to save a little but fussing with the small discounts for the other museums wasn't worth it to us. If you use it for the Borghese, you still have to make a pre-reservation and can only do that by phone. We were also in Rome for a week so two-day or three-day passes didn't really work well for our agenda.
Thank you for your information. I will only get the museum pass and skip the Rome pass.
Been to Paris many times. I always get the Paris Museum Pass. It is great for skipping the lines and maximizing your time. You can get them for a varying number of days. Eiffel Tower is not on the Museum Pass. If you want to go up to the third level, start looking for tickets at the official site toureiffel.paris in March. They go on sale about 3 months out. Get your Museum Pass at the Airport TI. It is just outside of the baggage area.
Was just in Rome and bought the 3 day, Roma Pass, Museum and Travel. It covers admission to any two sites. It is 38 euros. Used it for Ostia Antica and Coliseum. Got discount admissions at other sites after the first two. Used the transit to get around. It covered transit to Ostia Antica as well as the bus to the Appian Way. I do like walking, but having to walk across town to make my appointment at the Vatican, it was certainly quicker to use the Metro.
