My husband, and I, will be spending a few days in Paris and then travelling on to St. Malo, Bayeux, and Honfleur. We are looking for restaurant suggestions, and travel suggestions, for these areas. We will be travelling in May/June and eat fish, chicken, and vegetables, mostly. We plan to travel to St. Malo by train and then rent a car in St. Malo. Thanks in advance!
According to TripAdvisor, there are 273 restaurants in St Malo alone. Some of the TripAdvisor reviews are in English, since it is a popular destination and ferry port for British travellers. You may be able to translate French reviews which say things like "Établissement très agréable. Accueil chaleureux. Cuisine de qualité, belle présentation pour un prix raisonnable. " If you want the security of a reservation, you can sometimes do that online through TripAdvisor.
Virtually all restaurants will have a menu with prices outside, so you could just stroll along the street until you see one you like. Sometimes the menu will also be shown in English, but don't look down on a restaurant owner who is just trying to increase his business. You will find many restaurants are family-run, so opening hours can be uncertain and you are unlikely to find the 7 days a week and long hours you may be used to.
You will find the same true of Bayeux and Honfleur, and to a lesser degree at all the small towns along the coast.
