Paris and Normandy to Arles

We are taking a river cruise from Arles to Lyon, but first want to spend a day or two in Normandy. Should we fly into Paris and stay in Normandy? Where to stay and then how to get to Arles? Once we end in Lyon, we need to know how to get to Barcelona.

That's almost twice the length of France. How much time do you have?

Meanwhile, for the last part, you can hop a train with a change at Montpellier. I've heard of a direct bus that would probably take longer and cost less -- a wild guess is that it would be Eurolines.

We have a couple weeks. Is getting from Paris to Arles eAsier than Normandy to Arles because we could spend our last night in Paris instead of Normandy area. Maybe have to forget the Barcelona part. We thought Lyon was close to Barcelona.

From Normandy to Provence you will need to change trains, and stations in Paris, so if staying Paris is an option it might make sense.

Jan, for my two cents I will say that having just spent three nights in Lyon, don't short change the opportunities in the place you are in order to get to the next place on your list. It does seem like a lot of moving for a two week trip.
We absolutely loved Lyon, it's like a small version of Paris that you can actually wrap your head around, with spectacular sights and food. Perhaps, as you say, Barcelona should wait.

I agree that Less is More, especially in Paris. Lyon is a lovely homebase filled with amazing food. I am going on an AmaWaterways river cruise from Paris to Normandy and returning to Paris.

My plan is to take the train from Paris to Lyon or directly to Nice to spend at least 5 days and exploring like the locals in the off season and it will be a little warmer.

I did Normandy by car last year and looking forward to seeing it again as you miss so much. That area is amazing so watch the RS DVD on the 3 C's of the Normandy Region. I indulged in all 3. I will let you explore what these are!

Does anyone have a recommendation for a lovely and cost efficient B&B for 3 in Lyon and Nice?

To me, the right little place to stay adds so much to my experience.
