Paris and France in July ‘24

I’m planning a trip to Europe France and Italy) next summer with my 14 year old granddaughter. I’d like to go early June, but there is a possibility it will need to be July. I’ve heard much of Europe takes vacation in July and August so I’m curious if it will matter if I book the trip sometime in the month of July instead of early June. I’m seriously in doubt that EVERYTHING will be closed for vacation :) I have an important family reunion in Maine the last part of June so I’m trying to work around those events.

Any experience with July besides warmer weather?
No major itinerary. Just know Paris for a few days. The rest is in the planing stages.

Early June would be less crowded and usually less hot, so it is a bit better if you can swing it. Hotel tools are likely to be cheaper (Paris excepted) in June than in July, too. Although first week of July is still quiet-ish in France (school holidays start around July 7).
In Paris, July has no impact on store/restaurant closure - it's an August thing.

The Olympics will be in Paris in late July. I would avoid that time. I would go as early as possible in June. Normally I would say start in Italy (where it will be HOT) and end in Paris, but the Olympics change that. Book hotels with ac, but don’t expect the ac to be as cold as in the US.

If you go in July, check any plans against the dates for the Paris Olympics in '24 (July 26 - Aug 11) and be aware that events will be held not just in the Paris region but around the country, so it could impact any trip plans, transport, airfare costs, and hotel availability.

I have been to Paris in early June and mid July, would pick the first half of June again if I had the option. June is not as likely to be super hot yet, and not yet overrun with tourists, too. Likely better airfare deals in June, too...

If I were not coming for the Olympics, i think I would give France (and especially Paris) a miss for July (and August) 2024.

And not just on the dates of the actual Games. Those last few weeks previous will be a mess of construction, security / access restrictions, high prices etc.

I am missing the info that this is for 2024, "next summer" is ambiguous. Could you clarify?

It's in the thread title, Balso. You probably read it when you first opened the thread then forgot.
