What airport is best to fly into Paris? We are on the Paris & the Heart of France in 11 DaysTour.
I typically use ORY but that’s because it is a great deal closer to Paris than is CDG and I find ORY less chaotic and overall easier through which to pass.
Easy transportation from Orly to Paris? i.e. train
Orly is more expensive and a bigger hassle by public transport; CDG is cheaper and easier. From Orly you take the Orlyval to Antony RER and then RER to Paris and switch to the metro. Fiddly and as soon as there are two or more of you makes little sense financially. About 12.50 a head. It is 10.30 and straightforward from CDG.
A taxi from Orly to the lelft bank is 32 Euros for 4 people and bags; it is 37 to the right bank.
We always choose Orly if we have a choice -- flights from the US usually come into CDG.
Find your best ride from airport to Paris using RATP
Most flights from North America fly into CDG. You really have to work at it to find a flight into Orly.
But if you DO find a flight into Orly and want to compare:
1) CDG is further from Paris proper, and is a more expensive cab ride, but public transportation between the city and the airport is more straightforward (and cheaper).
2) Orly is much closer to Paris, and a cheaper cab ride, but as Janet indicated above, more of a pain to get into the city via public transport (and more expensive via this route). Orly is significantly smaller than CDG.
CDG is to the north east of Paris; Orly is to the south.
