Paris airport transport with young children

In need of airport transportation (from CDG to Paris) with four adults and two kids (ages 2 and 6 months). What type of transportation is recommended and which companies are recommended? We will have quite a bit of luggage including two car seats for later on our trip when we have a car outside of Paris.
Thank you!

We have used Suntransfers.com very successfully in many cities. They will provide private van transport for about 65E. They meet you and help with luggage. easiest way to Paris with that many people and that much gear.

Hi jen, just get in the taxi line. They can ensure you’ll get a vehicle large enough to handle all your luggage. I’ve used shuttle services in Paris a few times with varying results. It’s likely they won’t arrive at exactly the right time and you’ll be juggling the children and luggage while you wait for them. The cost is a flat fee of $50-$55 depending on your destination in the city.

But with that much luggage and number of people, you will need two taxis. For the price of two taxis you can hire a private driver.

We have never had to wait for a Suntransfers driver. They have always been waiting for us even when flights have been delayed. When we had to cancel pick up because of a flight delay of more than a day we easily contacted them and rebooked with no extra charge or problem.

Since you have your own car seats just get in the regular taxi line and they will match you with a suitable cab. It will be 50 Euro to the right bank or 55 to the left bank plus 8 euro for the two passengers above 4. The fixed fee is for 4 people and their luggage. They will match you with a van cab. Generally no tip is needed but with the hassle of installing and then removing car seats and such I would give a small tip if the cabbie is helpful. If you didn't have your own car seats then you would want to order a car with car seats but that is not necessary and using the official taxi queue will be faster and cheaper. ONLY the official taxi queue; do not accept a ride from anyone who asks if you need a taxi or you will be scammed. The address should be written down and handed to the driver. And when you start the trip the fixed fee should be on the meter e.g. 50 or 55 and then an add on of 8 for the extra passengers. Insist on that if he tries to run the meter.

If you're up for public transport and staying in the general vicinity of the Opera, the RoissyBus is what I typically suggest to people--it's easy, comfortable, and doesn't need to be booked in advance (so nothing is messed up for delayed flights, etc). Runs every 15-20 mins and I feel more comfortable in it than a taxi, personally. Side note--most rental car companies should offer the ability to add on carseats, an option you may want to consider to avoid lugging carseats around for later in your trip.

The bus for 6 people will cost more than a cab. And with little kids be less convenient since a cab takes you directly to your lodgings.

With "quite a bit of luggage," I think you very well could end up needing two taxis because car seats take up a lot of room and there is a very good chance you will lose one of the adult seats when you put two car seats into a six-person taxi. If you do manage to fit all four into a single car, be prepared for the extra charge per person for the 5th and 6th passengers though I have had drivers waive it when little ones made up the group. When my children were your children's ages, I traveled with their car seats but my children are far apart in age so I only had to carry one -- plus I paid for a seat for them once they were over 3 months so we needed the car seat on the plane. I liked traveling with my car seat from home because of familiarity with using it and I can see why you would want to do the same. Shuttles have a generally bad reputation at CDG but in my experience that has been more of an issue with shared shuttles as compared to private shuttles. If you want to be guaranteed to keep your group together, consider trying Shuttle Inter. I've never had a problem with them not showing up and neither has anyone who I sent their way. At 85€ to transfer 6 people, it will cost roughly 25€ more than a single taxi but will be less than two taxis.

Van cabs do hold 7 passengers so will probably hold 6 including car seats. Shuttle inter has been recommended when people don't have their own car seats and does have a better reputation than most. And I believe they don't require pre-pay which one should never do with a shuttle or car from a Paris airport. If they dn't show you will never get your money back; it will be 'we were there and you weren't-.
