Does anyone have experience with booking Paris accommodations for a large group? We have 8 people total. 2 couples - 2 teens - my mother - and my brother. I've been reviewing Airbnb and have a few so-so places favorited. Wanting to find a medium budget friendly place for us to stay in a good neighborhood. Ideas?
We are planning this trip for June 24-28...coming in from Switzerland on the TGV (Gare du Nord?)
What does “medium budget-friendly” mean in dollars or euros per night?
Hmmm... good question. Is it possible to get a place for 8 to stay for $600-$700 a night? or around there? We would preferably like to have a space where the group could relax at the end of the day, and not a bunch of separate hotel rooms. But open to all ideas.
Also, what neighborhoods does everyone like?
I doubt if any Paris hotel would be set up for this, unless you go with a name like Hilton or Hyatt and get connecting rooms. Or something similar to a Residence Inn.
How many bedrooms do you want? Is the sleeper sofa in the living room considered all right for one or two persons? What area would you like to be closest to in Paris? You can look at VRBO by arrondissement in Paris. I did have some problems with them when they were HomeAway a few years ago, however. At other times, my experiences with them were good. In the future, if I were to use them again, I would buy trip insurance. Paris is cracking down on flat rentals, so do your research about their rules and scams that others have posted elsewhere on RS.
You might be able to get some useful price-range info on booking.com. You specify the number of adults and children you are trying to house (and set other filters) and the website suggests combinations of rooms that match your needs. One hotel might have two quads; another might have a triple and three doubles, etc. Booking.com does have some apartments in its listings as well.
Do be careful about bed details. I casually looked at Airbnb options in Paris a few years ago and was discouraged by the very large number of listings featuring a pull-out couch or futon rather than a real bed. I was looking at budget-priced accommodations, however.
Hotel rates are quite seasonal, so the timing of your trip will have a major impact on how much you pay.
another strategy is to book a two bedroom apartment which has a living room/kitchen and good size dining table and then have 4 of the people stay at a nearby hotel, returning to the apartment to socialize, eat breakfast together for aperitifs before dinner etc. There are lots of little neighborhood hotels. It will be hard to find an apartment with gracious accommodations for a group this size or enough bathrooms.
@janettravels44 That's a very interesting idea! I'm going to do some research on that.
Bart, this is an aparthotel chain. They have various places around Paris
Adagio
Ck out parisperfect.com
Have used them 3 times and have been very happy.
hey hey bart
since the big crack down on short term rental apartments few years ago, lots of scams going on, hard to find places and of course your big group of 8 can be trying. the apartments need to have license numbers that start with a 75........
janettravels gave you an option, just know that rooms and bathrooms are very small, and you do need 2 bathrooms if not 3. it's tough traveling but it all works out and everyone will enjoy.
check cross-pollinate.com/paris/montparnasse vavin
is in the 6th arr (district). think it's a great area and you are near lots of things, shops, cafes, restaurants, pantheon, not that far from eiffel tower.
it has 3bed/2bath and will accomodate 8. or do 5 or 6 and hotel close by
read the fine print, cancellation, cash euros on arrival or credit card before arrival. arrival times for early checkin or luggage storage, since cit usually is 2 to 3 pm
you can always email them for info, this couple started the beehive hostel/hotel in rome in 1999.
hope this helps you out. you got lots of research to do, it's a lot but once you start going it becomes addicting and fun to get it together. i would have a sit down meeting with all, put their must haves and wants, or okay to miss, all roam around together or seperate and meet up later,
it will be busy in june, book the eiffel tower (toureiffel.paris) early, it is date and time once site opens.
ask more questions. has your gang been before? enjoy
aloha
This might work for you.

It's an apart-hotel. We are staying there in December so I don't have a first hand review yet but it gets excellent reviews on line. Various sizes of accommodation are available.
aparthotels are often good choices but they do't offer the kind of gathering places for a group this size. A two bedroom apartment with a dining table that seats 8 would be perfect -- and all the better if they have a split bathroom i.e. toilet separate from the bathing room which is fairly common. Having people in a nearby hotel with their own beds and bathrooms rather than having at least a couple of people sacked out on a couch in the living space might make things nicer for everyone. The aparthotels are handy for parents traveling with a child etc but they don't have large living spaces, chairs etc. I know it is quite hard to find 4 bedroom places with a couple of bathrooms. It is fairly easy to find two bedroom places with a big dining table.
OP, check this out: https://www.perfectlyparis.com/grandlepic.html. I haven't stayed in this apartment, but I have rented many others over the past 15 years from this company -- all wonderful. This one have 5 bedrooms and three full baths! And you are smack in he middle of Montmartre -- wonderful location.
In response to Janet's comment ... she's correct about some apart hotels, they're glorified hotel rooms with a small kitchen. The one I linked to above though are full apartments, some with large common living areas, but managed like a hotel. The one we've reserved has a roomy living room and full kitchen. And prices are really reasonable. I hope it's as good as it appears. It's in the 6th, very close to Lux Garden

I really like Janet’s idea - get a decent-sized apartment with a good dining room for x number to stay (however many people you can comfortably (and legally) have sleep there); and then the rest can stay in a hotel nearby.
I can’t even imagine trying to find one residence for eight people in Paris. It would be a palace-type apartment, and therefore monumentally expensive (not that finding anything is going to be cheap!).
