Paris 1st night Dinner Recommendations

I'm working on some trip planning. We are scheduled to arrive at CDG airport (from a connecting flight in Munich) at 5:20 pm on Saturday, March 28th. We have transportation arranged to Hôtel de Londres Eiffel through the hotel (7th arrondissement).

Does anyone have dinner recommendations for us? We won't be looking our best (work on Friday - late night flight - jet-lagged, etc). Something pretty close to the hotel since we won't be familiar with our area yet. I don't see how we can make reservations since I'm not sure exactly when we'd get to the hotel anyways. We aren't picky eaters.

I really appreciate any and all advice! It's our first trip to Paris :)

You will be too tired to make much of dinner. I would simply stop by a local café for a simple meal.

Kristen, jet-lagged means more than being tired, it means your whole body clock is off schedule. Five PM in Paris on your first day, your body thinks its morning. I know I have no appetite for the first few days. Hope you do better, but don't count on instant adjustment. It took us two hours to get through immigration and from airport to hotel. If it were me, I'd decide where to eat when I got there and looked around the neighborhood.

From Londres Eiffel, I'd go left out the front doors and head down the street to one of the Italian places. I particularly like the Gusta Italia that is across Rue de Grenelle and is more of a tablecloth place but fine for jet-lagged travelers. I've also eaten a number of times at their place across the street on the west corner - same food.

Here's a googlemap street view of the intersection just at the end of the block from Londres Eiffel.

I do NOT like the "pizza" place Rick is fond of which is the 2nd one back from that corner down Rue de Augereau. Although the staff were nice I found the pizza crust and sauce to be fairly tasteless.

There is also a fairly good Indian place on that street called Goa that I've eaten at for lunch a time or two. I don't eat much Indian food here at home but I thought it was delicious.

After dinner if you can muster up the energy, walk the couple of blocks to the Eiffel Tower. That's always my "You're in Paris" moment!

Thank you so much for the advice!

I will definitely be jet-lagged and exhausted! I have never slept on a plane yet. The goal is to eat some dinner and go to sleep. I usually wake up the next day revived and ready to go. We'll probably gravitate towards a quicker meal - plus, without a reservation, that will limit us some for sure.

That street view map is great! I'll have to check out the entire neighborhood :)

Kristen - Hotel de Londres Eiffel Tower to bistro Les Cocottes Paris is a 10 minutes walk according to google map. It's an option to consider since it's very close to the hotel. Furthermore, Le Cafe de Mars is less then 5 minutes walk from the hotel. You have two great options nearby.

Both of the Gusta Italia places do carry out too so if you want to take it back to the hotel you can. I don’t think Londres Eiffel allows eating in the room but I think you can eat in their breakfast room.

I second the Le Cafe de Mars and Le Cocottes suggestions.
also recommend Cafe Constant -- though it is popular & crowed at peak times.
Le Fontaine de Mars, charming and less informal than the others, but wonderful (make reservations and go another time).

Our favourite place in the 7th is Café du Marché on rue Cler. You eat on the lively market street, then you walk over to the Champ de Mars to see La Tour Eiffel at sunset.

These are all great ideas - I definitely feel more prepared thanks to all of you!

Cheers!

I also second the Café du Marché. Try the duck, salad and frites. You’ll never want to eat KFC again.

When you check in, immediately ask hotel staff for recommendations and to phone ahead for a reservation. Saturday is the busiest night but the desk staff should have a good idea of what could be available.
