We will be in Paris next week and had planned to tour The Palace of Versailles on Thursday, May 15th. However, someone mentioned to me that there is a museum strike at the Palace on that date. Does anyone have information about that?
I googled this & didn't find anything but went to the palace website where this notice was posted -
Thursday 15 May 2014
Because of a strike notice, the opening of the Palace will be delayed.
I hope this doesn't affect your trip (or mine). We will be there the next week and I really wanted to go here again. Here's hoping everything gets resolved.
Yikes! My date for Versailles is May 17. How can we get current updates about this?
@CC .... I see the notice on the Versailles website. From the homepage click on the "Plan Your Visit" tab and on the right hand side is the notice about May 15th. I hope everyone planning on going next week doesn't run into too many problems or hassles!
Cc, they have to give notice of strikes, and the notice they gave was for the 15th. The site said delay on the 15th not closed. This isn't a prolonged conflict, so you should watch for the 17th, but most probably your date will be unaffected and you'll be good to go.
And that just means the possibility of a strike. I've been in France when a strike was definitely going to happen and it didn't. Also, once got into the Orsay for free because the workers were striking and had taken over. Part of the fun of France. Good luck!
I have tried to purchase tickets for May 15th but that date is blocked and there doesn't seem to be a way to buy tickets.
