Paris hotel with direct access to CDG?

After finishing up my vacation in Avignon, I'll travel back to Paris by train the day before I fly home. My flight is not super early, so I thought about using this as a chance to see (briefly) a non-central part of Paris, rather than staying at an airport hotel. However, I'd still like it to have easy metro/RER access for arrival/leaving (CDG airport), be appropriately safe, etc. Any suggestions for a budget hotel/area to stay? Thanks!

If you stay at a hotel at or near Place de la Nation, there is a RATP bus, No. 351, which goes directly to CDG. Costs about 5 euro and takes about 50 minutes. Departures every 20 minutes. The hotel Campanile Nation is fine for a one night stay. Rooms are small but the beds are great!

One more thing, Nation is the start of the bus route to CDG so you will certainly get a seat and room for your luggage. The bus stops at all the airport terminals.

Several of my trips to Paris I have done the following:

I like to stay on Rue de Cler street for all but the last night, late in the afternoon of the last day I take the metro to CDG and stay the night in the airport Hilton (located in the terminal), this way I can get up later and have a leisurely breakfast, gather my carry on and walk 100 meters to the security gates. It really is a nice low stress way to end a trip.

@Donald, Did you mean the Sheraton? That's the one inside Terminal 2. For the Hilton, you have to take a shuttle.

For non-central, nice areas, but with access to the RER B, try the hotels at Denfert Rochereau, or Porte Royal. Denfert has a large shopping street similar to rue Cler. Those are both on the RER B just south of the central area. One stop further south at the Cite Universitaire, there are few hotels and the area is isolated from restaurants, etc.--

I like the neighborhood & easy connection at the Luxembourg RER station to connect to CDG airport.

OMG too many complicated answers.. lol

Stay at the Hotel Eugenie.. you are literally less then a 4 minute walk from St Michels RER station that will take you straight to CDG for 10 euros.. ( may be 9. 75)
Hotel is clean. but rooms are small , but include English tv. a.c and a mini fridge. Book shower only rooms as bathrooms are a bit bigger then shower/tub combo rooms.

Cafes and shops surround you, you are steps from the Seine for evening walk.. or Notre Dame.. and the lively 5 th ( Latin Quarter) , beautiful fun area( but yes.. "touristy")

Fairly cheap.
Nice staff

Even cheaper .. Hotel St Pierre .. on rue Ecoles Du Medicine.. .close by( maybe 5 minute walk to RER St Michel) , cheap,, quieter street.

I agree that rail has the least fear-of-delay factor. Just to mention an alternative, we've been happy with the Roissy-Bus at Place de L'Opera, which starts at 5:15AM, and gives you much more choice of hotels and evening activities. I agree that you have to factor in possible traffic delays. But it sounds like you might go "after" rush hour.

Thanks to everyone for the replies. Budget tipped the scales on this one - I ended up going with Hotel Media near Place d'Italie. I can easily get to Denfert Rochereau or Chatelet from there to get the RER, and I'll at least get to stay in a different neighborhood than I was in before.

You'll be walking distance to the Port Royal RER B stop. It's at the other end of Bd. de Port Royal from where you'll be. There's also a bus along Bd. de Port Royal that can take you there.
