Overnight in Paris at Christmas time

Hi All,

I will be taking the train to Paris from Switzerland for an overnight the first week or so in December. I need suggestions for the best moderately priced place to stay so I can hit most of the Christmas highlights. Also need to know what the don't misses are besides the Galeries Lafayette, The Tuileries, Hotel de Ville, etc I have been to Paris several times before, it's been years though and never at the holidays.
Thanks!!

look at booking.com put your filters in and see what is available in your budget. i would stay in single digit arrondissements (districts).
know that check in is usually 3-4pm and check out 10-11am. make sure they have luggage storage, near train station, drop off luggage if you can do it early and start your roaming around to see things you want.
hotel du mont blanc
hotel des nations saint germain
hotel le compostelle
just a few to check out near the seine river, you can email them if price is cheaper or book thru booking.com
have fun and enjoy your christmas highlights, if need be catch a taxi to save your tired feet

For a one-night stay in Paris in December, you can stay in one of the central neighborhoods such as Le Marais, Latin Quarter, or Pigalle. Don't miss the Christmas markets, ice skating rinks, and Christmas lights.

Coming from Gare de Lyon, I would aim for somewhere in the southern part of the Marais, around St Paul station. It is a very charming area and it will be very convenient to go there on metro line 1, drop luggage and explore.

One of the reasons we used to go to Paris every Christmas is that you can really dodge Christmas in Paris if you want. You'll probably find more Christmassy must do's where you're staying in Switzerland. Gallery Lafayette is always mentioned as a must see, but mainly because it's one of the only places that goes all out. The Tuileries market is a lame horse that needs shooting, and I can't recall much of an effort being made at the Hotel de Ville.

This isn't to say Paris should be avoided at this time of year, but you may have to manage your Christmas expectations a bit.

Thanks for the laugh 😂. I would say, if you expect a funfair, then it is not a bad one. But as a Christmas market? Tacky does not half-describe it!
I still like Paris at that time of the year.
