Outdoor dining in Paris? Heat lamps?

Curious if restaurants and cafes in Paris have outdoor seating with heat lamps (like we do in NYC).

Thanks in advance.

Gone because they use propane? What about the electric ones?

The government thought that attempting to heat the out of doors was a waste of energy, propane or electric. Outdoor heat lamps have been outlawed.

Blankets also provided in Italy. it was good fun snuggling under the blankets lakeside in Stresa.

The idea of heating outside air is nice for the customers and awful for the environment. What happened to all the COP-26 rhetoric? Paris is doing something positive.

Blankets are always nice.

And, while of course I agree that they're not the most efficient way to keep people warm, the idea that they're permanently gone from anywhere is wishful thinking. After all, they were permanently gone before COVID. Nothing is forever anymore - there's a new normal every month.

The lamps don't 'heat the out of doors', they heat the people sitting outside -- it is radiant heat designed to heat people it is shining on not the air of the terrace.

Janet - you should have been there to represent the outdoor heating industry when the legislature voted on this last year.

Who wants to join me in a venture to make radiant outdoor heaters.

Instead of the propane tank, a battery pack charged by solar panels that form the 'umbrella' of the heater.

May even be able to retro-fit the existing heaters.

Classic win-win situation. Save the planet and get rich.

P.S. Anyone out there a patent atty? :-)

This!

People need to go back to learn basic science of heat transfer (radiant, convection, conduction).

How ridiculous.... This would encourage more outdoor sitting... more ventilation... less cases...
