ORLY vs CDG Airport

Advantages and disadvantages of both airports.

I have read that Orly can be a less stressful experience that CDG.

Orly is closer to Paris - mileage wise - but not as direct as far as mass transit goes.

Not as many amenities at Orly as opposed to CDG.

I am interested in a less frantic airport experience - if such an experience exists - my neighbour flew American out of JFK to Orly - had a good experience.

Your insights as always are welcome!

I always choose Orly if I have a choice. Cheap cab into town (public transport is a hassle from Orly and with more than 2 people, more expensive and close to a wash for two). CDG is my least favorite airport in the world thus far. We used to spend the last 3 days of each trip in AMsterdam so we didn' t have to deal with CDG.

I also prefer Orly. But in my experiece, you have to be careful not to check in too early.

Not sure where you're coming from or your preferred airline, but La Compagnie goes from Newark to Orly. It's an all business class plane and it is about the same price as if you'd book an economy plus in another airline.

I aways use ORY if I can. It would be difficult to find an airport I dislike more than CDG.

Definitely Orly. Amenities there have improved a lot. The main downside is that there are few connections to the US, but if there is one that works for you, then go for it!

@lydiabaca, don't get overexcited ;-). The thing is, CDG is markedly below average for a major airport in a Western country. Orly is just about average.
