ORLY airport to CDG airport

Hi, I’m traveling solo with just a carry-on with wheels, and a backpack. But I’m a senior so wanting to be smart about getting from Orly to CDG on a weekday afternoon. I’ll catch my flight the next morning, so no pressure.

It’s been suggested for me to take the ORLYVAL to Antony, then the RER B into CDG airport. However, I also read that the RER B may likely be jammed with locals who don’t appreciate someone with a suitcase thus making my trip difficult and uncomfortable. So I’m wondering ….

1) Is this is true?

2) Do I need to find something better?

3) Is there a set price for taxi fare from Orly to CDG? If so where can I find it?

Thanks for your input.

There is no fixed taxi fare from airport to airport. The ride will be metered.

I recommend from ORY, taking métro 14 to Châtelet/Les Hall, change to the RER B for Roissy/Charles de Gaule/CDG. Cost is 14€.

Hi Tocard,
Why do you suggest “… taking métro 14 to Châtelet/Les Hall” rather than ORLYVAL to RER B?

Good heavens, the RER B is going to the airport. Lots of people will have suitcases, along with other travelers.

Chatelet-Les Halles is a bit of a maze, but the the signage is good if I recall. Antony might be simpler, but the Orlyval train is not part of the Paris transport system, so there is some extra cost.

We used UBER, clean and efficient and fixed price. We had a checked bag and did not want to do the train or bus.

There hasn't been such a shuttle since 2020 or even before.
When there is no rush, I would prefer the Orlyval + RER B route, perhaps 5-10 min slower but likely to be quieter than passing through Châtelet.

From ORY, métro 14 will get you to Châtelet in little more time than the OrlyVal will get you to Antony. ORY to CDG via métro 14 will cost 14€, the same cost as from Antony to CDG. The OrlyVal to Antony is 11€.

Châtelet is large and consists of 3 concentrated connection areas, but no one uses all 3 at the same time. In fact, the métro 14 to RER B connection to Châtelet is relatively fast and has escalator/elevator service available for the entire connection, stairs can be completely avoided if need be (such as for those with luggage).

I certainly would not pay 25€ for the much slower OrlyVal/RER B route when the métro 14/RER B route is only 14€ and much faster.

Orlyval & Line 14 cost the same with the current fare structure, 14€. Airport tickets are equally valid on both lines. The one exception is that Orlyval is not included in Navigo subscriptions, but that's not relevant for OP.
