Orly Airport Now Reachable from Paris direct on Line 14 Metro (but costs more than reg ticket)

Hi all Paris visitors! A long-awaited transit link was inaugurated today.

Orly airport is now accessible via metro direct from Paris.

Authorities today inaugurated the line 14 Orly airport stop.

No more taking the RER B to Antony and then switching to the Orlyval (although that remains an option).

However, please note a couple of important things:
— a regular t+ metro ticket will NOT suffice to get to/from Orly.
— If you don’t have a daily, weekly, monthly, or annual pass Navigo, you have to buy a separate ticket at 10.30 EUR.
— there are NO PAPER TICKETS available for this route. You must either load the ticket onto a Navigo Easy pass, or download the IDF Mobilites app (or Bonjour RATP app or SNCF Connect app) on your smartphone and purchase it there. (If you have several people in your party, each needs their own ticket/smartphone, you can’t share).

** and please note, according to reporting today in Le Parisien, there are only two automated machines at Orly that sell the Navigo Easy pass, so lines may be long. If you are arriving into Paris, you really may want to download the IDF Mobilites app, create your account, etc. in advance of arriving.

(MIND BLOWN EMOJI) And the IDF Mobilites site says, and this really blows my mind, that you can notadd the Orly ticket to a Navigo Easy that already has t+ tickets on it. It literally says you must buy a virgin Navigo Easy card for another 2 EUR to be able to load an Orly line 14 ticket on it.

Other options remain:
—- RER B + Orlyval: 14.50 EUR
—- Orlybus from Denfert-Rochereau: 11.50 EUR for a paper ticket, or 10.30 euros if on a Navigo Easy (or 16 euros during the special Olympics period July 20-Sept 8, 2024)
— Taxi:
Fixed rate of 44 EUR for up to four passengers between Orly and Paris Right Bank
Fixed rate of 36 EUR for up to four passengers between Orly and Paris Left Bank
— Tram T7 — regular t+ ticket
— Bus 183 - regular t+ ticket.

The other good thing about the Line 14 is that it is one of the automated lines, so it still functions when there may be strikes in the rest of the system.

Astonishing that they couldn't find a coder who could create a product that could load and prioritize different types of tickets. And even more astonishing that in a town that uses paper tickets for the RER system that they couldn't make paper tickets available for this trip.

I wonder if not providing an alternative to using a smartphone or a navigo card is actually legal... I know that in many countries not providing paper tickets would not be accepted.
(But public sector companies are permitted to flaunt the law in France...)

There are fare adjustment machines at Orly station. With long lines, but they do exist if you do not have the right ticket, and 5 more machines will be added on 1st July.

Yes the press was reporting last night that they have realized they need more machines and better and more communication about how the new ticketing works -- hence five additional machines by next week. As of today, they were going to have people there to assist travelers with buying their tickets with their smartphone. And they are even considering handing people Navigo Easy cards- I don't know if they will end up doing that though !!
