We are departing France on Thursday for Greece. Our info from Orange says we can top up our SIM card and continue to use in Greece, but I am wondering if anyone has experience with this. Is it the best i.e. Most economical for Greece?
Thanks in advance,
Rachel
Which Orange SIM do you have? If it’s the Orange Holiday, then I’d be tempted to just top up. I did this for my trip last year and it worked great. Depends on how much time you’re spending in Greece. In my experience, Orange always seems to pick the best local network for their roaming. You will need to use the Greece country code for local dialing, that’s probably the main drawback I experienced. But if you’ve already given your friends and family the French number that might be a reason to stay with Orange Holiday.
If you didn’t get Orange Holiday, then I’d definitely look at the mobile operators suggested in your post on the Greece Forum.
Hi Barbara, we did get the orange holiday so I think we will probably stick with that. Simplifies things. Thanks so much for your advice!

The beauty of the GSM protocol is that it can be used almost anywhere on the globe. You could top up a SIM card in France and use it in Mozambique if you wanted.
Any SIM card issued and used in the EU will never charge the higher fees of roaming minutes. Your allotted available time will be consumed at the same rates in Greece as they would be in France.
Tocard, that is very clear. Thank you!
