Anyone with recent experience with this as e SIM card? Will be in France and Belgium for two weeks in December and this card with 14 day validity looks pretty good for someone who is not a heavy data user. It looks like this Orange Card is $29.99 usually, but I have seen occasional price drops to $19.99. Any suggestions or tips about buying and usage will be appreciated.
I used it for 2 weeks in Scotland in July and it worked perfectly. No problems at all. For 11 weeks of travel this summer and fall, I averaged 1.5 G of data per week, using data whenever I wanted and for whatever I wanted.
Where I encountered trouble was registering the eSim for further use past the 14 days. But if you only need it for 2 weeks, I would do it again, because I like having a phone number available (one that local companies can call me on without it being an international call for them). And I think others have successfully registered the number, so I am sure if I had done the registration before leaving home, it would have been better.
I also love the ease of an eSim.
Used the physical SIM for a month in France and Germany. Worked great in France, never got better than 2g in Germany despite checking phone settings per faq and tech support.
When activated, do you still have access to your original home phone number too?
Wondering that if someone at home iMessages my usual phone number, will It go through to me so that I can respond?
We used airalo to get an eSim for France this past summer, on the recomendation of several others on this board that have used. It was $15 USD for 5GB that was good for 30 days (TIM branded). I think we each only used 2-3GB for our 2 week trip, but it was nice to not worry about how much we used. The airalo TIM sims for France also helpful because you can install before you leave, then the activation starts when you connect to the network in France after landing by switching which one you are using in your network settings. Just follow their installation instructions, it was pretty easy. THese don't have voice capability, but worked great for data and we just used Facetime or Whatsapp for calls as needed. And yes, we still got our imessages. I have a referral code for $3 off if you want to DM me.
