It’s our first time using Orange Holiday esim. We plan to buy the esim while we are still home but activate the esim on the second day of our France trip.
Will the esim activate only when you scan the QR code? So in other words, do we control when we want to activate the esim?

Regarding the eSIM version, Orange Holiday will be active once the QR code has been scanned and the phone connected to the cellular network. The process is automatic, no action is required from you.

I think you have your answer, but just thought I'd confirm. I set up everything while in USA, then when on the plane with phone in airplane mode, switched to Orange e-sim. When in Europe and turn off airplane mode and the phone finds their cell tower, that is when it is activated and days start counting. The days are counted in 24 hour increments from time you connect.

Don't know that it makes a difference but last year I got a physical orange sim which worked great in France but service slowed dramatically after we crossed to Germany. No improvement even with suggested fixed. Good thing one of us had Fi.
