One week until I arrive in Paris!!!

We arrive on May 24th. I'm super excited. Thanks to everyone who replied to my posts, or other posts that I read and got ideas from!

As of now the forecast says... showers, showers, showers. Every day! Eeek. Hoping for the best, but apart from a few committed/ticketed activities, we will try to flex our "to do" list to the suit the weather.

I was in the same boat and obsessively checked the forecast even though I knew it could change. Even on the day that looked like it would be rainy and thunderstormy all day, it wasn't that bad and there were plenty dry spots. Good shoes, a rain coat, and cafe visits meant the day was still great for us. Getting caught in a hail storm (yes, hail!) at Sacre Coeur sounds bad from home, but when you're there, in Paris, it was just another memory made. I missed out on visiting Pere LeChaise due to weather, but that was the only thing we skipped that day.

Advice: don't stress about weather this far in advance. It will change. Check a few days before for packing needs and then trust that Paris in the rain is better than your normal day back home :)

Thanks for the advice! I am used to rain, I live in Oregon... haha. I know a week is still a bit early for the forecast but have dreamed of blue skies in Paris.. no matter what it'll be great! :-)

Couldn't agree more with Tashamort. When we get caught in the rain, my wife says, "But it's French rain."
Don't know if that'll help you but it sure helps me.

What's a little rain especially in late May? Enjoy yourself with an umbrella!

Oh, and some of the museum giftshops have really neat umbrellas. They can be pricey and are not as light as the "packable" ones but wow, such a fun souvenir!

BTW, I always take a waterproof jacket to Europe. Even Italy. I'm sure you've got one (or several, lol)!

Have fun and let us know how things work out!

I'm there with you. I arrive from Switzerland on the 27th for a week in Paris. All I know is I will be there and not here.

Enjoy your trip.

Thanks, all! Yes, I've got several jackets to choose from. Oregonians stereotypically don't use umbrellas, LOL. But a fun one from the museum might be a good Paris memory if it was a rainy trip. Thanks, Pam. :-)

I'll be there a day after you. Hopefully we'll get lucky and it will be charming - Paris usually is regardless of the weather.

To quote Rick, "There is no bad weather just inappropriate clothing."

See you there maybe!

I’m glad you realize it is too far out to be overly concerned. We were in France week before last. Before we went, the forecast was gloomy.

It did rain nearly every day, but it would be sunny, then we’d get a shower. For instance, we went to the lovely village of Chedigny, known for its roses. We had a picnic lunch in a small park on the edge of town. It was sunny. We decided to walk into the village, a less than five minute walk. There was a dark cloud in the distance, but we weren’t worried. We hadn’t been in town more than twenty minutes before we had a cloudburst. We sought shelter and after a few minutes the rain let up. My wife joked it would be sunny by the time we got back to the car and sure enough it was!
